Job Description:
Your Work Shapes the World at Caterpillar Inc.
When you join Caterpillar, you're joining a global team who cares not just about the work we do - but also about each other. We are the makers, problem solvers, and future world builders who are creating stronger, more sustainable communities. We don't just talk about progress and innovation here - we make it happen, with our customers, where we work and live. Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.
Cat Digital is the digital and technology arm of Caterpillar Inc., leveraging the latest technologies to build industry leading digital solutions for our customers and dealers. With over 1.5 million connected assets worldwide, our teams use data, technology, advanced analytics, telematics and AI capabilities to help our customers build a better, more sustainable world.
Job Summary:
The CatRentals Program is expanding in scope, complexity, and execution risk as CatRentals 2.0 and ongoing rental digital initiatives span dealer onboarding, UAT, data integrations, analytics, and cross-functional delivery. As a Senior Digital Project Manager supporting Rental, you will provide dedicated operational support to coordinate complex workstreams, improve delivery predictability, and strengthen cross-team alignment across product, engineering, business, dealer, and partner teams. This role will help stand up and reinforce governance processes-including intake, scope management, delivery tracking, risk management, and reporting frameworks-with the objective of supporting at least 80% on-time delivery of program commitments while scaling into future rental programs.
What You Will Do:
  • Drive project cadence and delivery for CatRentals 2.0 and related rental digital initiatives, ensuring milestones, dependencies, risks, and decisions are visible, tracked, and actively managed.
  • Coordinate cross-functional execution across product, engineering, dealer operations, implementation partners, analytics, and business stakeholders to support dealer onboarding, UAT readiness, data integrations, and go-to-market delivery.
  • Stand up and reinforce governance routines that improve delivery predictability, including intake, scope management, backlog hygiene, schedule management, delivery tracking, RAID management, documentation, and action item follow-up.
  • Support the program objective of achieving at least 80% on-time delivery of commitments by maintaining clear plans, ownership, decision logs, escalation paths, and performance visibility across workstreams.
  • Prepare clear status updates, leadership readouts, decision materials, and escalation summaries that help teams align on priorities, trade-offs, release readiness, quality concerns, and execution risks.
  • Facilitate productive meetings, working sessions, and follow-ups that keep teams focused on outcomes, unblock delivery, and reinforce accountability across teams that do not directly report into one another.
  • Identify and improve ways of working that reduce execution friction, strengthen transparency, and support scalable delivery practices for future rental programs and 2030 planning.

What You Will Have:
  • Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational, tactical, and strategic planning in support of the overall business plan.
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Data Gathering and Reporting: Knowledge of tools, techniques, and processes for gathering and reporting data; ability to use data to provide visibility, support decision-making, and monitor delivery progress.
  • IT Project Control and Reporting: Knowledge of project control and reporting; ability to monitor the vital signs of an IT project while managing its progress, risks, dependencies, and delivery schedule.
  • IT Project Management: Knowledge of project management; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control IT projects using appropriate technical resources.

Considerations For Top Candidates
  • Experience managing complex digital programs or projects across multiple workstreams, including dealer onboarding, UAT, data integrations, analytics, release readiness, governance, and go-to-market activities.
  • Strong understanding of software delivery practices, including Agile delivery, SDLC concepts, release planning, backlog management, dependency management, intake management, scope control, and risk/issue tracking.
  • Proficiency with Azure DevOps (ADO) and experience with collaboration and planning tools such as Confluence, Miro, Aha!, Power BI, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, or similar tools.
  • Proven ability to engage stakeholders and communicate effectively with product, engineering, business, dealer, and leadership audiences, translating complex delivery topics into clear updates, asks, and decisions.
  • Highly organized, detail-driven, and structured, with a track record of maintaining schedules, action items, documentation, risks, decisions, delivery metrics, and dependencies across multiple teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive accountability without direct authority, remove blockers, facilitate alignment, and maintain momentum in ambiguous or fast-moving environments with existing dependencies and quality challenges.
  • Experience building or refining delivery processes, operating rhythms, dashboards, templates, or governance routines that improve transparency, predictability, execution quality, and on-time delivery performance.
  • Experience working with dealer-facing digital products, rental operations, ERP or integration programs, Caterpillar's digital portfolio, or scaled planning efforts is preferred.
