Primary Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain Azure cloud infrastructure supporting Databricks, data ingestion, ELT/ETL, and analytics workloads
- Implement and manage Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) for Azure networking, storage, Databricks workspaces, Key Vaults, and monitoring components
- Ensure environment parity across development, test, and production while enforcing enterprise cloud and architectural standards
- Build and operate CI/CD pipelines for Databricks jobs, notebooks, repos, workflows, and platform configurations
- Enable fully automated deployment and promotion patterns for data pipelines and Databricks assets
- Partner closely with data engineers to operationalize Spark workloads with a focus on reliability, scalability, and cloud cost efficiency
- Implement secrets, credentials, and certificate management using Azure Key Vault for Databricks and downstream systems
- Enforce RBAC, identity integration, tagging standards, and policy controls across Azure and data platforms
- Collaborate with security, risk, and compliance teams to meet healthcare grade regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA, internal audit controls)
- Design and implement observability solutions, including telemetry, logging, metrics, and alerting for Databricks and Azure infrastructure
- Drive proactive reliability engineering through capacity planning, performance tuning, and incident prevention
- Lead root cause analysis and continuous improvement efforts for production data platform incidents
- Act as a senior technical owner for Azure and Databricks DevOps patterns and platform capabilities
- Mentor junior engineers and influence DevOps and data engineering best practices across teams
- Define and maintain reusable platform templates, golden pipelines, and engineering standards
- Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). The Company may adopt, vary or rescind these policies and directives in its absolute discretion and without any limitation (implied or otherwise) on its ability to do so
Required Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent practical experience
- 8+ years of hands on experience in cloud engineering, infrastructure, or platform operations
- 5+ years supporting production environments
- 5+ years developing Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and automation (Python)
- 5+ years of CI/CD experience using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins
- Solid production experience in Azure (preferred); AWS or GCP acceptable with demonstrated ability to ramp quickly into Azure
- Experience working ServiceNow incidents and participating in war rooms for high severity production issues
- Proven deep understanding of cloud infrastructure, networking, identity, and security fundamentals
- Demonstrated automation skills using Python
- Demonstrated ability to participate in an on call rotation and perform off hours maintenance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced public cloud certification (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect Expert)
- Practical experience applying SRE principles (error budgets, reliability metrics, incident postmortems) in production environments
- Experience with Splunk or similar observability tools, including alerts, dashboards, and reporting
- Experience using AI assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to improve automation and Infrastructure as Code
- Experience with Databricks Unity Catalog, job orchestration, and cluster governance
- Experience supporting healthcare or regulated enterprise data environments
- Exposure to FinOps / cost governance for large scale data platforms
