Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps, ensuring secure and efficient delivery of VA corporate IT applications.
  • Engineer cloud infrastructure on AWS or Azure platforms, optimizing for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency while embedding security controls (e.g., encryption, IAM policies) to meet VA requirements.
  • Conduct security assessments, vulnerability scans, and risk mitigation activities, ensuring compliance with VA security standards (e.g., FISMA, NIST 800-53, FIPS 140-2) across development and deployment processes.
  • Collaborate with Scrum Masters, Cloud Engineers, and Release Managers to integrate security practices into Agile sprints and release cycles, supporting legacy system sustainment and DevSecOps modernization.
  • Harden cloud environments and CI/CD pipelines against threats, implementing monitoring tools (e.g., AWS CloudWatch, Azure Monitor) and security best practices to protect VA systems and data.
  • Support the migration of VA applications to cloud platforms, ensuring secure architecture design, seamless transitions, and post-migration stability.
  • Utilize VA-approved tools (e.g., Jira, GitHub, ServiceNow) to document DevOps workflows, security configurations, and contribute to Biweekly Status Reports on pipeline status and security posture.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve DevOps and security-related issues, minimizing downtime and ensuring high availability for VA corporate services and end-users.
  • Integrate emerging technologies, such as containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) or Artificial Intelligence (AI), into DevOps processes, aligning with VA OIT’s modernization goals.
  • Work with VA stakeholders, including the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) and Information Security Officer (ISO), to address security requirements and deliver exceptional customer outcomes.
  • Provide technical expertise and mentorship to team members on DevOps tools, cloud security practices, and federal compliance, contributing to Trilogy’s staff development initiatives.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies (e.g., sprint planning, retrospectives) to align DevOps and security efforts with team deliverables and the VIP Lean-Agile framework.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • One of the following certifications required: AWS Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional), AWS DevOps Engineer (Professional), Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, or ISC2 Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP); additional DevOps or security certifications preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in DevOps engineering, cloud infrastructure, or cybersecurity, with a focus on federal or VA IT environments.
  • Proven expertise in CI/CD pipeline development, cloud platforms (AWS or Azure), and security implementation, with hands-on experience using tools like Terraform, Jenkins, and security scanners (e.g., Nessus, Qualys).
  • Strong technical and analytical skills, with the ability to balance DevOps efficiency with robust security in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.
  • Familiarity with VA security standards (e.g., FISMA, NIST, HIPAA) and the VIP Lean-Agile framework is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint) and VA-approved tools (e.g., Jira, GitHub, ServiceNow).
  • Ability to adapt to evolving technical and security requirements and travel occasionally to VA sites in Washington, D.C., as needed.
