Job Duties and Responsibilities
The Senior Device Engineer will work closely with cross-functional internal teams and external vendors/suppliers to support enterprise device certification at DISH Wireless. This role involves collaborating with chipset manufacturers, OEMs, and 3rd party labs to establish a strategic technical vision and roadmap for DISH Wireless Enterprise devices, including modules, smartphones, feature phones, tablets, hotspots, wearables, laptops, and other IoT devices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with OEMs and Product Managers to analyze, research, and document technical requirements for new product features (e.g., eSIM, iSIM, VoNR, VoLTE, VoWiFi, 5G) and develop Product Requirements Documents (PRDs), Device Requirements, and Test Plans for enterprise projects.
- Partner with Core, IT, and RAN Engineering teams to understand the Enterprise Device roadmap and its impact on network systems.
- Design and analyze end-to-end (E2E) call flows, including handover support across EPS, 5GC, VoNR, EPS Fallback, and N3IWF/ATSS/ANDSP.
- Conduct device feature validation, test modem features, and participate in debugging sessions. This includes a travel commitment of 10-20% for feature alignment with vendors.
- Provide technical insights on device activation, network provisioning, and Value-Added-Services (VAS) for MVNO and MNO architectures.
Skills, Experience and Requirements
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in enterprise architecture, system design, and product development for mobile and IoT devices (smartphones, feature phones, tablets, hotspots, etc.) throughout the product life cycle.
- 2+ years of experience in cellular product network certification, including network-specific configurations (e.g., DNN/APN, eSIM), network features testing (e.g., RF conformance, VoNR, RCS, iMessage, FaceTime, roaming), and OSS/BSS integration.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong technical expertise in wireless technologies, including IMS, 5G, LTE, 3G, VoLTE, and WiFi Calling, with knowledge of L2/L3 protocols (e.g., MAC, RLC, PDCP, SDAP) and control signaling.
- Proficiency in ACS and MDM systems, and experience with data models (e.g., TR-69, TR-369, TR-181).
- Hands-on experience with standards bodies and certification forums (e.g., 3GPP, GSMA, PTCRB, CTIA, NIAP, DISA, FIPS compliance).
- Familiarity with technical integration policies and platforms, such as EDI, VAN-services, XML/UEDF, APIs, and batch feeds.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently or in teams; able to communicate effectively with executive-level audiences.
Salary Ranges
Compensation: $96,250.00/Year - $158,125.00/Year

Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location.
