Overview
Primary responsibility is new product development for the Cove dishwasher brand. This position will be responsible for the design and development of components and systems encompassing the entire design of the dishwasher. Apply use of fluid mechanics and heat transfer to dishwasher design to improve performance, efficiency and meet regulatory requirements. This position includes the transition of new designs to the production environment. Also responsible for working with the production team to support with present product design improvements, address field service data, and perform root cause analysis.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Generate and convert ideas into working design solutions, 3D modeling, drafting, tooling and testing while working both independently and within cross-functional teams.
- Design dishwasher system components including plastic parts, sheet metal, electro-mechanicals, structural members, etc.
- Conduct cost analysis and other feasibility studies as required.
- Lead tolerance stack-ups and content assessments to ensure assembly success and fabrication capability.
- Manage engineering change requests to move designs through development and production release processes.
- Direct, review, and approve work done by Mechanical Designers.
- Responsible for developing and coordinating test plans with Lab Technicians, execute performance testing, and analyze data to validate design improvements and concepts.
- Proficient at using diagnostic, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills to address issues related to design, agency, assembly, reliability, quality, fabrication, and testing.
- Use of engineering calculations and statistics to validate design changes.
- Self-starter who can satisfy goals and timelines.
- Effective and concise communication skills, both oral and written
- Ability to use SolidWorks, MS Office (Excel) is required.
- Ability to use FEA (Ansys), CFD (Fluent), LabView is a plus.
Required Qualifications:
- Solidworks: Intermediate
- Microsoft Excel: Intermediate
- Self-Starter: Inspired to perform without outside help
- Bachelors or better in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Design experience with hydraulic systems, thermodynamic systems, finite element analysis and CFD.
7+ years: Related engineering experience
3+ years: Related dishwasher design experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Sheet Metal: Intermediate
- Plastics: Intermediate
- Labview: Some Knowledge
