What we’re looking for
Our data stores power the “Data” in “People Powered Data” here at SurveyMonkey. Our customers rely on us for their mission-critical needs, and our dedicated data store and search infrastructure team ensures seamless operations to deliver top-notch results. In this role, you will be part of a global team responsible for managing, automating, scaling, and optimizing our data store infrastructure.
What you’ll be working on
- Maintain, configure, tune, and monitor our databases and search infrastructure
- Understand and troubleshoot issues across the stack (hardware, software, and network)
- Design and build automation & tooling around all facets of database operation
- Document administration and response procedures through runbooks & playbooks
- Train and mentor other data infrastructure engineers
- Participate in the on-call rotation
- Partner with engineering teams to improve data infrastructure usage and follow best practices
We’d love to hear from people with
- Experience working within a database engineering team in complex, large environments
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, open-source and cloud-native purpose-built DBs
- Good operational experience with AWS OpenSearch (or ElasticSearch)
- Managed production workloads in the cloud, preferably in AWS
- Experience in handling various data compliance regulations and security requirements
- Scripting (Python, Bash, Powershell, or others) and Infrastructure as Code experience a major plus
SurveyMonkey believes in-person collaboration is valuable for building relationships, fostering community, and enhancing our speed and execution in problem-solving and decision-making. As such, you will be required to work from a SurveyMonkey office up to 1 day per week.
