A Brief Overview

The Sr. Database Engineer is responsible for managing, monitoring and maintaining assigned databases and their operating system/CPU/memory/storage resources, as well as to ensure availability and performance comply with TriNet's expectations. This position is also responsible for overseeing database operations of the TriNet hosting production and non-production environments
What you will do

• Provide engineering, installation, configuration, maintenance and support in a 24/7 environment
• Monitor designated applications and take corrective action to prevent or minimize system downtime.
• Build /create / refresh / move databases as required.
• Configure solutions for High Availability, Load balancing and fail over support.
• Secure all databases by developing system access, monitoring, control, and evaluation.
• AWS services, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) services, Terraform, Github, Gitlab.
• Install/Upgrade database software, patches for Oracle, MySql, PostgreSQL Databases
• Deep understanding of AWS services related to databases highly desirable, particularly Amazon RDS, Amazon Aurora
• Database DevOps Automation and adoption using Terraform, CloudFormation
• Strong knowledge of AWS Services like EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, Aurora, API Gateway, SNS & DMS
• Strong Experience with Data Migration tools like Goldengate, DMS, FiveTran 
• Apply engineering knowledge, Database Observability tools and processes to identify/prevent/reduce the frequency or likelihood of potential issues 
• Work closely with software engineering teams to review application design and code frequently to ensure that standards are being adhered to
• Work closely with database vendors to seek support for technical issues.
• Provide technical solutions and escalated support for highly complex technical issues.
• Develop and analyze highly complex system standards, thresholds, and recommendations to maximize system performance.
• Maintain documentation on physical and logical layout and assets of the technical architectures to maximize availability and reliability.
• Implement changes into production environments to support change management and release scheduling.
• Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the manager’s discretion.
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Complies with all policies and standards

Education Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience preferred 

Experience Qualifications

• Typically, 8+ years of relevant experience 

Preferred Qualifications:

• AWS Certifications (Solutions Architect Associate/Professional) 
• Experience with microservices and serverless architecture 
• Exposure to monitoring and logging tools

Skills and Abilities

• Experience in HR Services industry preferred. 
• Strong ITIL principles a plus. 
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. 
• Excellent Teamwork 
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management, both verbally and in writing 
• Strong working knowledge on Oracle Support processes for technical requests resolution 
• Strong Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office skills 
• Ability to coordinate with multiple IT and Business stakeholders. 
• Ability to efficiently work on multiple complex projects or assignments concurrently. 
• Ability to think logically and analytically. 
• Knowledge of Privileged Access Management tools like BeyondTrust, SailPoint etc.
