The Opportunity:
CACI is seeking a highly experienced Senior Database Administrator to support the Naval Maritime Maintenance Enterprise Solution (NMMES) program. This role is critical for database operations that support mission-critical applications used by over 45,000 Navy personnel worldwide.
As a Senior Database Administrator, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, optimization, and maintenance of enterprise database environments within the NMMES Cloud Hosting Environment (CHE). You will ensure high availability, security, and performance of databases supporting ship and submarine maintenance systems, while aligning with Navy cybersecurity and data management standards.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the installation, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of database platforms (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, SAP HANA)
- Ensure database availability, performance tuning, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery planning
- Implement and enforce database security policies in compliance with DoD cybersecurity requirements (RMF, STIGs)
- Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and cybersecurity teams to support system integrations, including external interfaces (e.g., Navy ERP via API)
- Manage database lifecycle activities, including patching, upgrades, and migrations within cloud-hosted environments
- Monitor database performance and capacity planning to support evolving mission requirements
- Support audit readiness, data integrity, and compliance with Navy and federal data governance policies
- Coordinate with Government stakeholders and program leadership to ensure alignment with mission objectives
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field
- 10+ years of experience in database administration supporting enterprise systems
- Strong experience with one or more database platforms: Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, SAP HANA
- Experience supporting cloud-based environments (e.g., AWS GovCloud or similar secure cloud environments)
- Deep understanding of database performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization
- Experience implementing backup/recovery strategies and disaster recovery solutions
- Knowledge of DoD cybersecurity frameworks (RMF, STIG compliance)
- Experience supporting large-scale, mission-critical systems with high availability requirements
- Active Secret clearance (or ability to obtain)
Desired:
- Experience supporting Navy or DoD programs, particularly NAVSEA systems
- Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA environments, especially within financial systems like NFS
- Experience with database automation, scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python), and DevOps practices
- Knowledge of data integration tools and ETL processes
- Experience with containerization or modern cloud-native database services
- ITIL or similar service management framework experience
- AWS or cloud-related certifications
