Job Description – Senior Database Administration Analyst
Role Overview
This role supports a highly critical production environment and is responsible for the architecture, design, deployment, and support of midrange database systems. You will work with a team of skilled professionals to ensure reliability, scalability, and performance of enterprise database platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, install, and configure database solutions across environments
- Provide L3/L4 support for on-premise and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS)
- Manage and coordinate multiple projects and incidents across teams simultaneously
- Analyze existing infrastructure and recommend improvements for:
- Reliability
- Availability
- Scalability
- Serviceability
- Collaborate with internal teams and clients to identify and resolve system issues
- Perform advanced database performance tuning (instance, database, OS level)
- Lead or contribute to:
- Database implementation and configuration
- Data migration and storage solutions
- Application testing and assessments
- Develop and present architecture designs and business cases
- Drive process and infrastructure improvements
- Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery (DR) strategies
- Participate in crisis situations and provide leadership support as required
- Maintain ownership, accountability, and adaptability in all assignments
Technical Skills & Qualifications
- Strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server (2008R2 to 2019)
- Hands-on experience with:
- Installation, configuration, and administration
- Advanced SQL Server features and performance tuning
- Experience with high availability and DR solutions, including:
- Failover Clustering
- Always On Availability Groups
- Mirroring and Log Shipping
- Knowledge of:
- Backup and recovery strategies
- Database reorganization and maintenance
- Capacity planning and growth management
- Experience with:
- SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
- SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
- Cloud integration (Azure/AWS)
- Ability to define and maintain:
- Database standards
- Security policies and auditing practices
- Experience in:
- Database upgrades, migrations, and release management
- Impact analysis for future changes
