Responsibilities and Tasks

Define, design, engineer, and implement storage and backup hardware and solutions.

Define, in conjunction with other support groups and service providers, the functionality required to support business strategies.

Work with customers to gather requirements and propose, engineer, and provision storage and backup solutions.

Research and partner with vendors and management to select products that best meet company needs.

Manage system setup and standardization of features and usage.
-
Create documentation, testing, training, and post-deployment assessments.
-
Adhere to the change management process for any planned maintenance, or when potential issues are identified.
-
Provide training for new team members.
-
Coordinate vendor-specific support and problem resolution.
-
Adhere to Micron’s established processes and policies.
-
Provide 24x7 On-Call technical support and expertise for customer issues and service provider escalation.

Willing to work in shifts based on business requirements.

Establish and implement policies, procedures, and standards, and ensure conformance.
-
Evaluate and test new storage and backup solutions for compatibility with Micron’s IT environment.
-
Define and adhere to established service and operational level agreements.
-
Collect, monitor, report, and interpret operating metrics.
-
Propose and implement storage and backup system enhancements (software and hardware updates) that will improve the performance and reliability of Micron’s IT environment.

Identify service improvement opportunities.
-
Plan and implement strategies for minimizing service outages, and for reducing the impact of such outages on business operations (i.e., availability, contingency, and disaster planning).

Adhere to Organization security policies for all managed services.

Develop cost-effective solutions.
-
Benchmark best practices where appropriate.

Communicate and collaborate with peer groups (System admins, architects, security team, network team, etc.).
-
Support acquisition, installation, maintenance, and administration of large enterprise SAN, NAS & enterprise Backup environment.

Troubleshoot, perform root cause analysis and identify storage related problems
-
Plan, coordinate and upgrade components of the SAN/NAS/TSM as needed with software, hardware and microcode upgrades, etc. Work with vendors as needed in this process

Work with Micron’s Business Units to ensure solutions meet or exceed business requirements.

Work with vendors and team members to troubleshoot issues related to the operations (Problem management)

Ensure all changes to systems are recorded and properly executed with approval (Change Management)
-
Review the performance of systems and plan for technological refresh and cater for future expansion (Capacity Management)
-
Participate in Business Continuity Planning and DR strategy, including documenting DR procedures and executing DR drills.

Maintain and review the DR documents on a regular basis.
Qualifications and Experience
At least 6 years of experience managing storage solutions, preferably.
-
NetApp Cluster Mode and in both NAS and SAN configurations. Additional NetApp technologies such as snapmirror, snapvault, metro cluster are desired.

Good hands-on knowledge on NetApp Cloud deployment such as FSX, CVO, CVS, ANF across multiple cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP )

Working Experience in handling and troubleshooting Storage Products such as Dell VMAX-3, PMAX, Pure, Data Domain.

Good understanding on Data center architecture and Automation technologies.
-
Experience working with ISILON Storage is a must-have skill.

Having knowledge on NUTANIX storage is added advantage.

Experience with Cisco SAN Switch configuration and support such as Virtual SAN, Fiber channel zoning, LUN masking, HBA configuration and tuning

Strong understanding of the OSI model, particularly relating to storage transport protocols such as NFS, ISCSI

At least 2 years of working experience in IBM Spectrum Protect (TSM) and other Backup technologies.

Shell scripting and TSM scrips/macros.
