Who We Are:

At Emburse, you’ll not just imagine the future – you’ll build it. As a leader in travel and expense solutions, we are creating a future where technology drives business value and inspires extraordinary results. Our AI-powered platform helps organizations modernize financial operations, increase visibility, and optimize spend across the enterprise.

Emburse is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to help power how we understand our business through data. In this role, you will own the design and evolution of our enterprise data architecture—building trusted, scalable, and automated data pipelines that support usage metering, revenue recognition, and executive reporting.

You’ll play a critical role in Emburse’s broader data transformation, working hands-on across Snowflake, Power BI, and key business systems like Salesforce, BillingPlatform, and NetSuite. This is a highly impactful role for someone who enjoys solving complex data problems, cares deeply about data quality, and wants to connect technical solutions to real business outcomes.
The ideal candidate brings strong data engineering expertise paired with practical business understanding. You’ll care about the why behind the data, collaborate across teams, and turn complex, disconnected data into reliable, actionable insights.

What You'll Do:

  • Design, build, and maintain data pipelines and data models that support usage metering, billing, revenue, and executive reporting.
  • Own and optimize Snowflake as Emburse’s enterprise data warehouse, ensuring performance, scalability, and security.
  • Develop and maintain ETL/ELT processes that integrate data from operational systems into analytics and reporting environments.
  • Partner closely with Finance and Business Systems teams to ensure accuracy and completeness of usage, billing, and ARR data.
  • Quickly diagnose and resolve data quality issues, implementing long-term solutions that prevent recurring problems.
  • Define and enforce data models, naming conventions, and governance standards to enable consistent, trusted reporting.
  • Collaborate with Business Systems to improve source system data structures and integration design.
  • Support automation, monitoring, and version control of data pipelines using modern data tools (e.g., dbt, Airflow).
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and analysts within the Data & Analytics team.

What We're Looking For:

  • 5–7+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics, or data architecture, ideally in a SaaS or subscription-based environment.
  • Strong expertise in Snowflake, SQL, and data modeling (dimensional and relational).
  • Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT tools such as Fivetran, dbt, Informatica, or similar platforms.
  • Proficiency with Python, Git, Airflow, and cloud storage solutions (e.g., S3).
  • Familiarity with usage metering, billing systems, and ARR/revenue data models is highly preferred.
  • Proven ability to identify data quality gaps, design scalable solutions, and work independently to drive outcomes.
  • Solid understanding of data governance, lineage, and security best practices.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and comfort collaborating across technical and non-technical teams.
