Dandy is transforming the massive ($200B) but antiquated dental industry. Backed by some of the world's leading venture capital investors, we are on an ambitious mission to integrate and simplify every function of the dental practice through technology. By building the operating system for every dental office in America, Dandy is empowering dentists with technology, innovation, and world-class support to achieve more for their practice, their people, and their patients.

Revolutionizing the dental industry is hard…and we need help.

At Dandy, we're on a mission to transform the dental industry, and we’re looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to help us build the infrastructure that powers data-driven decision making across the company. As part of our high-growth team, you'll have the opportunity to work across domains—ranging from product analytics to supply chain optimization—and own the full data pipeline from end to end.

Our data engineers play a crucial role in shaping the future of Dandy by building and maintaining the infrastructure that enables everything from real-time insights to strategic decision-making. Whether it’s supporting operations or product analytics, we need a versatile, technically-strong engineer who can work autonomously and drive data initiatives forward at speed.

Your responsibilities/opportunities

  • Own and Build Data Infrastructure: Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines, ETL processes, and robust data systems to support multiple business domains, including product, operations, logistics, and more.

  • Collaborate and Support Stakeholders: Work closely with data analysts, product teams, and internal stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver reliable, accurate, and well-documented data solutions that power business decisions.

  • End-to-End Data Pipeline Ownership: Be responsible for the full lifecycle of data infrastructure, including data collection, transformation, and storage. Ensure that pipelines are optimized for performance, scalability, and maintainability.

  • Tooling and Automation: Design and implement tools for monitoring, automation, and self-service analytics to make sure that stakeholders can access the data they need quickly and reliably.

  • Documentation and Best Practices: Develop clear, detailed documentation for data pipelines, architecture, and systems to promote best practices and ease of use for internal teams.

  • Mentorship and Leadership: Mentor junior data engineers, ensuring they develop the skills to take ownership of key areas while helping you drive the overall vision for data infrastructure.

  • Continuously Improve Systems: Keep an eye on emerging technologies, tools, and best practices. Continuously improve our data infrastructure to stay ahead of the curve and to meet growing business demands.

About you:

  • Technical Mastery: 5+ years of experience building and maintaining scalable data infrastructure, ideally in a high-growth, fast-paced company. You have hands-on experience with data orchestration tools such as Dagster, Airflow, or similar, and are well-versed in writing performant, maintainable code in Python.

  • Expert in Data Pipelines: You have deep experience building data pipelines using tools like DBT for transformation and cloud environments like AWS or GCP for data storage and computation. You know how to design and maintain reliable ETL processes that scale.

  • Problem Solver with Autonomy: You are resourceful and can tackle ambiguous, complex problems on your own. You enjoy working in environments where your ability to independently identify and solve problems directly impacts the success of the company.

  • Collaborative & Communicative: You can translate complex technical ideas into clear, actionable recommendations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You communicate effectively with analysts and other teams to ensure data is accessible and usable.

  • Customer-Oriented: While you're highly technical, you also have a sense of empathy for the business and end users. You understand that your work impacts real-world operations, and you approach every problem with the end user in mind.

  • Versatile & Adaptable: You thrive in an environment where priorities can shift quickly, and are comfortable jumping into different domains as needed. Whether it’s working on product analytics data infrastructure or supporting logistics and supply chain efforts, you're ready to fill in any gap to ensure Dandy’s success.

Bonus points:

  • Strong experience with documentation, ensuring that all systems and processes are well-documented and easy for other engineers and analysts to leverage.

  • Interest in contributing to an earlier-stage company and working in a rapidly evolving, dynamic environment.

  • Strong customer empathy, particularly for dentists
