Role Overview:

We’re seeking a Business System Analyst to join our Data Platform team. This role sits at the intersection of business, data, and technology—supporting the definition, design, and delivery of robust data capabilities including report creation, data ingestion pipelines, governance frameworks, and analytics enablement. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical thinking, experience working with data and reporting systems, and a deep understanding of the superannuation or financial services domain.

What You Will Get To Do:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders (Platform Owners, Architects, Data Engineers, and SMEs) to gather and refine requirements for data platform capabilities.

  • Translate high-level business and regulatory needs into detailed technical specifications, epics, and user stories.

  • Analyse source systems, data models, and transformation logic to support ingestion and mapping processes. Document report specifications, data flows, data dictionaries, business rules, and reports to ensure transparency and traceability.

  • Support the delivery of features such as: Data lake ingestion, Reporting and Analystics, Data governance tooling, Role-based access and security, Regulatory and audit reporting pipelines

  • Facilitate workshops, backlog refinement sessions, and technical discussions to align delivery teams and stakeholders.

  • Work closely with testers and data engineers to validate data outputs and ensure business rules are implemented accurately.

  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement in requirements analysis and data delivery practices.

What You Will Bring:

  • 4+ years’ experience as a Business Analyst or Technical Analyst, with strong exposure to reporting, data platforms or datacentric projects.

  • Solid understanding of data architecture concepts: data lakes, ETL/ELT, data warehousing.

  • Proficient in data analysis and profiling using SQL, Excel, or BI tools.

  • Experience working in Agile teams (Scrum or SAFe), including writing epics and user stories in tools such as JIRA and Confluence.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to engage both technical and business stakeholders. Familiarity with data governance, data quality, or regulatory compliance in the superannuation or broader financial services sector is highly desirable.

  • Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable Qualifications / Experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Information Systems, Finance, or a related field.

  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as APRA reporting, RG 97, or CPS 230.

  • Exposure to data integration tools, and event-driven architectures.
