INTRODUCTION:
We are seeking a Senior Data & Analytics Engineer to build and scale the data platform that powers our Revenue Intelligence capabilities.
This role will integrate data from our core go-to-market systems and transform it into trusted, analytics-ready data sets used by Revenue Operations, Finance, Marketing, and leadership teams.
You will work within a modern lakehouse architecture, owning the transformation layer and analytics data models that power reporting, forecasting, and revenue performance insights across the business.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Build & Maintain the Revenue Data Platform
- Develop and maintain modern ELT pipelines using Microsoft Fabric (Data Factory, Dataflows Gen2, Pipelines), Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, and dbt or Fabric’s native transformation capabilities.
- Integrate data from key revenue systems such as Salesforce, HubSpot, Marketo, Gainsight, and billing platforms.
- Design and maintain Medallion architecture data models (bronze, silver, gold) within Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse and OneLake, transforming raw ingestion data into clean, analytics-ready datasets backed by Delta Parquet.
- Optimize pipeline performance, reliability, and cost efficiency within Microsoft Fabric, including Spark pool configuration, Capacity Unit management, partitioning strategies, and Delta table maintenance (OPTIMIZE, VACUUM).
Design High-Quality Analytics Data Models
- Build dimensional models using Kimball methodology
- Implement slowly changing dimensions, snapshots, and historical tracking patterns.
- Create curated, self-service datasets supporting pipeline analysis, forecasting, marketing attribution, and revenue reporting.
- Own and evolve the centralized metrics layer, ensuring consistent definitions for key business metrics such as pipeline, bookings, revenue, retention, and growth.
Ensure Data Quality, Observability & Governance
- Implement automated data tests, validation checks, and monitoring using dbt tests, Microsoft Fabric Data Quality capabilities, and Azure Monitor / KQL-based alerting.
- Detect and resolve schema changes, pipeline failures, and data drift.
- Establish observability patterns for pipeline reliability and SLA tracking.
- Support data lineage, documentation, and governance workflows, including PII handling and access controls.
Support Time-Based & Historical Revenue Analysis
- Maintain robust snapshot frameworks to enable point-in-time analysis.
- Leverage Delta Lake time travel and versioning within Microsoft Fabric to support reproducible analytics and historical reporting, including point-in-time query patterns in OneLake.
- Ensure revenue metrics are stable and trustworthy as operational systems evolve.
Collaborate Across Data & Business Teams
- Partner with Revenue Operations, Marketing Ops, Finance, and Analytics teams to translate business requirements into scalable data models.
- Work closely with analysts and data consumers to ensure datasets are intuitive, accurate, and accessible.
- Participate in data architecture discussions and technical design reviews.
- Mentor analysts or junior engineers on data modeling, SQL, dbt best practices, and Microsoft Fabric Notebook / Lakehouse patterns.
Data Platform & Engineering Practices
- Contribute to data platform standards including modeling conventions, testing frameworks, and deployment workflows.
- Participate in code reviews and maintain high standards for reliability, maintainability, and documentation.
- Support CI/CD practices for dbt models and Microsoft Fabric pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions with Fabric REST API deployment patterns.
What Success Looks Like:
- Establish a trusted revenue data layer that becomes the single source of truth for revenue performance across the business.
- Deliver high-quality, reliable datasets that analysts and executives depend on.
- Build scalable modeling frameworks that support the company’s growth and go-to-market strategy.
- Elevate the analytics engineering discipline through best practices, documentation, and thoughtful system design.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
Experience
- 5+ years of experience working in data engineering, analytics engineering, or data platform roles building production data systems.
Data Engineering & Pipelines
- Experience building production data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric (Data Factory, Dataflows Gen2, Spark Notebooks) or comparable modern data stack technologies (e.g., Databricks, dbt, Azure Data Factory).
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse, OneLake, and Warehouse, or comparable lakehouse platforms (Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery).
- Experience working in Azure cloud environments; familiarity with Azure services including ADLS Gen2, Azure Key Vault, Azure DevOps, and Entra ID (formerly AAD) access management.
Data Modeling
- Strong understanding of dimensional modeling, including fact/dimension table design.
- Experience implementing slowly changing dimensions, snapshots, and historical data patterns.
- Experience designing analytics datasets that support business reporting and decision-making.
SQL & Data Transformation
- Advanced SQL skills capable of building efficient, scalable transformations.
- Experience using SQL within analytics engineering frameworks such as dbt, or within Microsoft Fabric Dataflows Gen2 and Warehouse SQL endpoints.
- Familiarity with Python for data utilities, transformations, or orchestration.
Data Quality & Observability
- Experience implementing data testing, monitoring, or lineage practices.
- Familiarity with schema management and pipeline reliability best practices.
Collaboration & Business Acumen
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Understanding of revenue processes such as sales stages, pipeline metrics, attribution, retention, and ARR/NRR concepts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Data Factory, Spark Notebooks, Warehouse, or Real-Time Intelligence); experience with Databricks or Azure Synapse Analytics also valued.
- Experience working with CRM and marketing automation platforms such as Salesforce, HubSpot, or Marketo.
- Experience integrating billing, subscription, or financial system data.
- Experience with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or Sigma.
- Experience supporting a centralized metrics or semantic layer; familiarity with Microsoft Fabric Semantic Models (Power BI Direct Lake mode), dbt Metrics, or Cube preferred.
- Experience optimizing Microsoft Fabric performance and cost (Capacity Unit management, Spark pool sizing, Delta table OPTIMIZE/VACUUM, OneLake storage tiering).
