MongoDB is seeking an experienced Sr. Data Analyst to join the MongoDB Education team. In this new role, you will be responsible for analyzing data, interpreting results, and providing actionable insights to drive informed decision-making across the department. You will work closely with stakeholders to understand their business challenges and data needs, develop analytical solutions, and present findings in a clear and concise manner. To give context and meaning to the data you will develop a deep understanding of the MongoDB Education department, including program offerings, learning platforms, content catalog, and the learning experience. This role is essential to driving the MongoDB Skills initiative forward by turning raw data into actionable insights that empower account teams to strategically upskill customers and accelerate account growth. 

Responsibilities 

Data Collection and Processing 

  • Collaborate with Engineering to develop automated data collection methods
  • Extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from various sources
  • Clean and preprocess data to ensure accuracy and consistency
  • Develop scripts and workflows to automate data processing tasks

Data Analysis and Interpretation: 

  • Perform exploratory data analysis to uncover trends, patterns, and anomalies
  • Apply statistical and analytical techniques to derive insights from complex datasets
  • Develop and implement predictive models using machine learning algorithms, including regression, classification, clustering, and time series forecasting, using both supervised and unsupervised learning techniques to analyze data

Data Visualization and Storytelling

  • Collaborate with Engineering to create visually appealing and interactive dashboards and reports
  • Craft and present compelling narratives around the data, using visuals and explanations to illustrate the story behind the numbers

Data Quality Assurance 

  • Validate data accuracy, completeness, and integrity
  • Identify and address data quality issues and discrepancies
  • Implement data quality controls and monitoring mechanisms

Business Intelligence and Decision Support 

  • Analyze data to develop a deep understanding of the learning behavior of our customers and provide actionable insights to account teams to help them drive learning engagement and close the skills gap within their accounts
  • Create processes, sharable workflows, documentation, and a data glossary to help democratize data across the department and empower teams to make data-informed decisions
  • Develop methods to measure the impact of learning engagement and customer enablement on business metrics including support cases and account growth
  • Explain fluctuations in metrics and the implications of the changes
  • Transform complex data findings into clear, concise, and understandable insights for business leaders
  • Conduct scenario analysis to evaluate the potential impact of different strategies and decisions
  • Identify and assess risks based on data analysis to mitigate potential issues and capitalize on opportunities 
Job Qualifications

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or related field
  • Proven experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or related roles
  • Extensive experience developing, sharing, and automating analytics workflows in Alteryx, Knime, or Dataiku
  • Experience with MongoDB or document databases, or the ability to quickly learn the basics of MongoDB Atlas
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail 
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities
  • Excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to anticipate problems
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and programming languages (e.g., SQL, Python, R, etc.)

Bonus Points:

  • Experience working with learner engagement data for customer education or technical enablement programs
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, etc.)
  • Knowledge of AI solutions for data analysis 
  • Alteryx, Knime, or Dataiku Certification

MongoDB’s base salary range for this role is posted below. Compensation at the time of offer is unique to each candidate and based on a variety of factors such as skill set, experience, qualifications, and work location. Salary is one part of MongoDB’s total compensation and benefits package. Other benefits for eligible employees may include: equity, participation in the employee stock purchase program, flexible paid time off, 20 weeks fully-paid gender-neutral parental leave, fertility and adoption assistance, 401(k) plan, mental health counseling, access to transgender-inclusive health insurance coverage, and health benefits offerings. Please note, the base salary range listed below and the benefits in this paragraph are only applicable to U.S.-based candidates.

MongoDB’s base salary range for this role in the U.S. is:
$83,000$162,000 USD
