Evaluates and approves retail credit proposals, analyzes financial information and documentation, ensures policy and regulatory compliance, and recommends exceptions. Supports credit policy, process, product, scorecard, and business-rule development; provides guidance and training to credit teams; resolves stakeholder and customer issues; addresses audits; and monitors portfolio performance indicators including early vintage performance, migration, and non-performing loan ratios.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Evaluate and decision credit proposals (new, renewals, one offs, amendments) received from Retail business units in line with specific credit guidelines as set within existing KCB Credit policy/manual/product documents, CBK Prudential guidelines, understanding of market, industry, economic factors, financial statements and recommending those beyond DLA for consideration while ensuring compliance with set TAT, SLAs and quality standards.
  2. Verify and analyze credit information, documentation such as bank statements, financials, provided by BMs/Customers, and seek clarification if needed from other sources, liaise with BMs/Branches for queries, additional information/documents and business recommendations for deviations, if needed.
  3. Support creation and update of new and existing credit processes, policy, manuals and product standards as relates to Retail business.
  4. Provide training/prompt guidance and support on all aspects of credit to all credit teams across branch network e.g. regional engagements, branch/customer visits.
  5. Provide input on development of new and reviewing of existing retail credit products, and credit appraisal tools e.g. Scorecards and Business Rules 
  6. Maintain a healthy partnership with business units through effective communication and resolution of customer complaints.
  7. Attend to Audit requirements and provide a response to audit remarks/ensure rectification thereof in respect of Retail Credit Unit. 
  8. Support review of Retail portfolio through monitoring Early Vintage performance, Migration and PAR (NPL ratio) and recommend appropriate remedial actions e.g. limits review, scheme suspension etc.
