Reporting directly to the Chief Counsel - North America Supply Chain & Global Law, the Senior Counsel for Mexico Hub & Global Law is a critical generalist role. You will be the primary legal advisor for Mondelēz's Manufacturing Plant cluster in Monterrey, Mexico (Mexico Hub), providing solution-oriented counsel for our dynamic manufacturing operations. Additionally, you will play a vital role in supporting Mondelēz's International procurement organization on complex global supply agreements. This position requires an experienced legal professional capable of operating autonomously, partnering with business leaders to achieve strategic objectives, and collaborating effectively within a dynamic global organization.
How you will contribute:
You will develop and implement robust legal strategies, safeguarding Mondelēz International's ability to compete fairly, protect our people, assets, and reputation, all while adhering to legal requirements and ethical standards. You will guide managers in making informed decisions regarding legal risks and manage outside counsel effectively, balancing financial and reputational considerations. As an in-house expert, you'll navigate an increasingly complex legal landscape.
For the Mexico Hub, your counsel will be essential in anticipating and addressing internal and external factors across regulatory, environmental, real estate, contracts, pre-litigation disputes, REPSE compliance, and labor topics. Your contributions will directly impact our operational efficiency and compliance posture across vital manufacturing and supply chain functions.
What you will bring

- Legal experience, ideally in a large matrixed multinational company
- Strong analytical, strategic vision, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
- Experience assessing, advising on risk, advising/coaching and dispute resolution in a multinational company
- Highest level of integrity and trust; highly credible and willing to express
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Resourcefulness, including relevant new technologies and systems
- License to practice law in relevant jurisdiction(s)
You will be responsible for:
- Contract Lifecycle Management: Draft, review, redline, and negotiate a wide range of supply chain contracts, including vendor agreements and purchasing/supply of direct and indirect goods.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure adherence to company policies, statutory regulations, and internal buying policies. Proactively identify risks associated with supplier relationships and implement effective mitigation strategies.
- Strategic Counsel for Manufacturing Operations: Provide day-to-day legal counsel to the Mexico Hub team on various legal aspects pertinent to manufacturing operations.
- Process & Tool Development: Develop and maintain templates, standard terms, and best-practice playbooks to enhance efficiency in the contracting process.
- Dispute Resolution: Handle and support pre-litigation aspects of disputes with vendors.
- REPSE Compliance: Guide on ensuring compliance for suppliers of specialized services or works in Mexico.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Juris Doctor (JD), Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent from a recognized law school, with strong academic credentials.
- Bar Admission: Licensed to practice law in Mexico.
- Experience: Minimum 8+ years of legal practice, with at least 4 years focused on Supply Chain or operations.
- Prior experience in a large, matrixed multinational company is highly desirable.
- Proven expertise in client counseling and supply chain legal matters; Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG) industry experience is a significant advantage.
- Broad generalist legal background, including board advisory, supply contracts, and regulatory compliance.
- Business Acumen: Strong business acumen and judgment, demonstrating the capacity to make timely, reasoned decisions and provide competent advice that aligns with overall business objectives and assesses risks/rewards effectively.
Additional qualifications (desirable):
- Studies in the US or any other Common Law country.
- Admission to practice law in the US (NY and IL preferred).
