What we do: The role is a fantastic opportunity for an advertising and content policy lawyer to join a growing international legal team working on unique legal issues at the forefront of the adtech industry in a vibrant, fast-paced environment. You will be part of a global company that is building a trusted advertising ecosystem for the open internet.
What you'll do: We are seeking a talented and self-motivated legal professional to join our legal team, focusing on ad content and ad targeting policies. In this role, you will contribute to navigating the complex landscape of digital advertising regulations, ensuring our platform's compliance, and advising internal teams on advertising content-related matters and on our acceptable use policies. You must be able to exercise sound, independent legal judgment and have a proven ability to work collaboratively with business counterparts by translating complex legal issues into practical and creative solutions. You will be both professionally and personally engaged in keeping up to date with the ever-changing landscape of advertising regulations in the U.S. as well as globally.
- Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining advertising content policies and acceptable use policies for The Trade Desk's platform.
- Help provide legal advice on advertising content / targeting issues and TTD’s liability as an intermediary to internal teams, including ad policy teams, trust & safety teams and sales teams.
- Help review and analyze client campaigns against our ad policies.
- Provide ongoing regulatory tracking of advertising regulations and industry self-regulatory standards in the US and other key territories, such as the EU, UK and APAC, and oversee local outside counsel engagement where necessary.
- Collaborate with other legal teams to assess potential interactions between ad policy requirements and other legal fields, such as privacy and commercial contracts.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our ad policy processes and tools
Who you are:
Education: J.D. degree from ABA accredited law school.
Bar: Must be a member in good standing of an applicable state.
Experience :
- 6+ years of relevant legal experience, with a focus on advertising law and content policy.
- Good knowledge of key US advertising regulations, including but not limited to FTC guidelines on advertising content and methods and industry self-regulatory programs. Familiarity with at least some sectoral regulations impacting sensitive advertising categories (such as for example Housing Employment and Credit, health, child-directed products, political advertising, and/or other industry-specific advertising regulations).
- Familiarity with the digital advertising ecosystems, particularly programmatic advertising and its various actors.
- Some familiarity with advertising regulations in other regions is a plus (such as EU, UK and/or APAC).
- Experience working with or for adtech companies, advertising agencies, or media platforms is a plus.

The actual amount may differ based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and location. All employees may be eligible to become The Trade Desk shareholders through eligibility for stock-based compensation grants, which are awarded to employees based on company and individual performance. The Trade Desk also offers other compensation depending on the role such as sales-based incentives and commissions. Plus, expected benefits for this role include comprehensive healthcare (medical, dental, and vision) with premiums paid in full for employees and dependents, retirement benefits such as a 401k plan and company match, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, well-being benefits, reimbursement for certain tuition expenses, parental leave, sick time of 1 hour per 30 hours worked, vacation time for full-time employees up to 120 hours thru the first year and 160 hours thereafter, and around 13 paid holidays per year. At the Trade Desk, Base Salary is one part of our competitive total compensation and benefits package and is determined using a salary range. The base salary range for this role is
$123,900—$227,200 USD
