Job Title: Senior Cost Accountant
Job Summary:
The Senior Cost Accountant is responsible for understanding and controlling costs at the source to support operational and financial performance. Reporting to the General Manager, this role partners with operations, engineering, and leadership to ensure accurate product costing, identify inefficiencies, and drive continuous improvement, while supporting data-driven decision-making across the business.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate product costing, including COGS, inventory, and overhead
- Analyze cost variances and identify root causes
- Monitor material, labor, scrap, and production performance costs
- Provide clear, actionable insights to support operational decisions
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and support continuous improvement efforts
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and tracking cost targets
- Support inventory control processes, including cycle counts and reconciliations
- Ensure strong cost controls and audit readiness
- Partner with operations, engineering, and supply chain teams
- Communicate financial information clearly to non-financial leaders
- Support cost modeling and quoting activities (with development over time)
- Other duties as assigned.
Academic Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance,
or related field.
- 5+ years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
Strong understanding of:
- Standard costing
- Variance analysis
- Inventory and cost accounting principles
- Advanced Excel and ERP system experience
