Position Summary

The position of Senior Cost Accountant will have responsibility around the Accounting function specific to our established Manufacturing division. This Accounting position will have responsibility assisting with the development and communication of management reporting, standard costing methodologies, and a deep-dive understanding of the division’s performance. As the Senior Cost Accountant, you will work closely with the accounting leadership and plant operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the monthly financials for each of the manufacturing and production sites are timely and accurately depicted in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Helping maintain the standard costing model for each manufacturing product line and assist on improvements for more accurate costing.
  • Support internal and external financial and process audits.
  • Analyzing actual manufacturing costs and preparing periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs, working with the management team on adjustments needed to the standard cost model
  • Annual physical count and reconciliation of parts and work-in-progress inventories.
  • Assist with the development of business cases around enhancements to production capacity
  • Ability to accurately prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual management reports
  • Providing the management team with monthly management reporting on site performance including but not limited to units produced, raw materials, direct labor, direct parts, burden/overhead, specific shop performance, warranty/quality, scrap/waste and other key performance indicators

 

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of general and/or cost accounting, preferably in a Manufacturing Environment
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • Must have excellent analytical skills
  • Sound understanding of accounting principles
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Experience with continuous improvement around undefined processes
  • Strong quantitative and analytical competency
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Familiarity of Sarbanes Oxley
  • Self-starter with excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills
  • Positive attitude and works well with a team

 

Working Conditions

  • Occasional job activities in the plant environment (inventory audits, BOM reviews).
  • Minimal travel up to 5% of the time including overnight stays.
