Brand Voice Ownership:
- Define and Own Brand Tone of Voice (TOV): Own brand voice, developing, maintaining, and distributing comprehensive TOV guidelines across the entire organization.
- Channel Adaptation: Lead the adaptation of the core TOV and content for specific channel needs (e.g., differentiating the conversational style for social media versus the authoritative tone for the website).
Strategic Narrative & Messaging:
- Master Storyteller: Help translate the brand's core values, reasons-to-believe (RTBs), and consumer insights into compelling, integrated brand narratives and stories.
- Build Credibility for our Insurance Expertise: Build out a content ecosystem that brings to life Simply Business’ deep expertise in the small business insurance space, including in-depth content about our products, trades, etc.
- Product Marketing & GTM Alignment: Partner with the Manager, Product Marketing & GTM to ensure all core claims and product messaging are integrated into the overall narrative and marketing executions
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Partner with channel owners across organic & paid channels to develop narratives and brand stories that bring to life the brand in relevant & tailored ways
Creative & Team Leadership:
- Creative Partnership: Collaborate deeply with the Sr. Manager, Creative and design team to ensure copy and visual creative are perfectly integrated, compelling, and aligned with campaign goals.
- Team Management & Mentorship: Manage and mentor a pool of in-house and freelance copywriters, providing editorial direction to maximize output quality and consistency.
Content Creation & Oversight:
- SEO & AEO Content Optimization: Partner closely with SEO/AEO manager and agency to ensure that all content, including copy and formats, are fully optimized for SEO & AEO discoverability
- High-Priority Content Creation: Execute high-impact copywriting tasks for flagship content, major brand campaigns, and other high priority content
- Content Supervision and Quality Control: Develop updated editorial guidelines and provide editorial oversight and final sign-off on messaging and copy quality across all marketing assets, ensuring strict adherence to brand standards.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Copy Leadership: Proven experience in a senior or lead copywriting and copyediting role, with a portfolio showcasing exceptional brand storytelling and diverse content formats.
- Editorial Expertise: Demonstrated ability to define, implement, and govern a complex brand voice and style guide for a rapidly scaling organization.
- Deep Understanding of SEO & AEO Optimization: Experience in driving impactful and measurable SEO & AEO optimization through content - both copy and format
- Finance and Insurance Experience: Solid understanding of the commercial / business insurance industry, including key products, regulations, etc.
- Mentorship and Management: Experience managing, mentoring, or providing deep editorial oversight to both in-house staff and external freelance copywriters.
- Creative Collaboration: Strong history of successful collaboration with art directors, designers, and creative leads to build integrated visual and verbal assets.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to synthesize complex business and product information (especially in FinTech/Insurance) into clear, emotionally resonant, and persuasive consumer copy.
- Attention to Detail: Impeccable grammar, spelling, and meticulous attention to detail required to maintain high editorial standards.
