POSITION SUMMARY
Solenis seeks an experienced attorney to serve as Senior Contracts Counsel Americas with a strong commercial contracting background to be responsible for rapid and high-quality contract review and negotiation services to Solenis business and functional teams. The successful candidate must have hands-on experience drafting, negotiating, revising, and interpreting complex commercial contracts, including, but not limited to, non-disclosure agreements, sales, procurement and consulting contracts, and overseeing commercial contracting processes.
As a member of the Solenis Legal Department, the Senior Contracts Counsel is responsible for providing strategic legal advice and technical expertise as an essential and valued team member and business partner. This attorney will work closely with other Legal team members, the Diversey sales and procurement partners on a full spectrum of contract law and commercial issues, including, contract drafting and negotiation, commercial transactions, policies, processes and training.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Structure, draft and negotiate a variety commercial contracts
- Review and interpret contract rights and obligations and assist in resolving contractual disputes
- Draft and update template agreements
- Support contract administration process improvement and efficiency
- Work closely with the regional and business counsel and involve subject matter experts as needed
- Active participation in department projects and initiatives
- Perform other duties as required
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
The successful candidate will have a superior work ethic, passion for excellence, keen client-partnership focus, as well as the following:
- Fluent in English. Spanish is a Plus.
- Legal degree from an accredited university; attorney in good standing
- 8 years of substantive experience in contract drafting and negotiation with minimum of 2 years of in-house legal experience – preferable in a global manufacturing company
- Adept at multi-tasking; embraces a fast-paced and dynamic work culture
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and influence action
- Highly-developed critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent business acumen, judgment and decision-making skills
- Commitment to continued learning and development
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as proficiency in use of personal computers, Microsoft Office Suite and e-mail skills required
