Senior Consultant Operational Risk and Compliance HR

Mō te tūranga | About the Role

We’re excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a seasoned risk professional to play a key role in shaping and embedding first line operational risk and compliance activities within our Human Resources and Communications (HRC) business unit. This role is integral to supporting Westpac New Zealand’s enterprise-wide risk management approach, with a strong focus on ensuring compliance with the Bank’s Operational Risk Management and Compliance frameworks.

As a trusted risk partner, you’ll build strong relationships across the business unit and provide high-quality insights and reporting on HRC risk and compliance matters. You’ll be instrumental in leading first line of defence responsibilities and driving continuous improvement in how the business manages its risk and compliance environment. To succeed in this role, you’ll need strong commercial acumen, a solid understanding of risk and compliance, and the ability to apply this knowledge in a practical, business-focused way.

• Proven experience in the financial services industry

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in a risk-related discipline, with strong expertise in Operational Risk and Compliance

• Solid understanding of Operational Risk frameworks, policies, and regulatory expectations

• Exceptional stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills

• The ability to identify and implement effective controls or mitigation strategies to manage key risks

• A tertiary qualification in a relevant field
