The RoleReporting to the Head of Compliance & Regulatory, the Compliance Manager will be responsible for the hands-on delivery of compliance monitoring, regulatory reporting, and policy maintenance across ZIL’s operations. This is a senior individual contributor role for someone who can operate independently, apply sound judgement across a broad regulatory landscape, and act as a trusted second pair of eyes on regulatory matters. You’ll work closely with the Head of Compliance on GFSC and FCA-facing activity, and will be expected to own workstreams end-to-end.
What You’ll Be Doing- Compliance monitoring- Own and execute the annual Compliance Monitoring Plan, including thematic reviews, sample testing, and control effectiveness assessments across underwriting, claims, distribution, and outsourcing.

- Policy and procedure maintenance- Draft, review, and update compliance policies and procedures to reflect regulatory change, business developments, and audit findings. Ensure version control and communication to the business.

- Regulatory change management- Monitor regulatory developments across GFSC, FCA, and relevant Gibraltar/UK legislation. Assess impact, brief stakeholders, and ensure timely implementation.
- Training and awareness- Develop and deliver compliance training materials for ZIL staff, including annual refreshers, regulatory updates, and targeted sessions on topics such as financial crime, data protection, and conduct risk.
- Audit and assurance support- Act as the compliance point of contact for internal and external audits. Coordinate management responses, track remediation actions, and ensure timely closure.

- Solid working knowledge of the UK regulatory environment, including FCA Handbook (particularly SUP, SYSC, ICOBS, PROD) and Consumer Duty expectations.
- Familiarity with Gibraltar’s regulatory framework and the GFSC’s supervisory approach, or demonstrable ability to get up to speed quickly.
- Experience with delegated authority / MGA oversight models is highly desirable.
- Comfortable drafting regulatory submissions, compliance reports, and Board-ready papers.
- Pragmatic, structured thinker who can distinguish between proportionate compliance and box-ticking.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple workstreams independently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills — able to translate regulatory requirements into plain language for the business.
- Professional qualifications (e.g., ICA Diploma, CISI, CII) are desirable but not essential if matched by relevant experience.
