About the role
The Competitive Intelligence Manager is focused on gathering data to identify, analyse, and respond to competitor strategies (GTM, product, business, resourcing, etc). They focus on understanding what others are doing and clarifying how we can differentiate ourselves from them and win new business. Their products are mostly internal and serve the Sales and CS teams to better deposition competitors and proactively counter attempts to deposition HiBob. They also support Product and Senior management to strategically dedicate resources to stay competitive.
The manager will collect and assemble market data to form competitor profiles, strategic themes, and meaningful (de)positioning strategies. They will manage relationships with relevant vendors, senior stakeholders, and mentor less experienced Bobbers in and out of Product Marketing.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a deep understanding of the company’s target markets and customer segments to anticipate new trends and competitor pivots
- Use market research and industry knowledge to develop insightful and persuasive positioning statements and strategies for use by sales and the broader marketing teams
- Regularly refine our overall positioning frameworks and ICP in response to the evolving market
- Lead projects to identify, evaluate, structure, and implement competitive intelligence processes (e.g. report cadence, secret shopping, pulse surveys)
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to effectively champion the use of deliverables and effective procedures throughout the business
- Coaches cross-functional stakeholders on setting project scope and format discussions that achieve business goals
- Mediates ad-hoc conflicts in project scope and delivery to prioritise projects for the overall good of the business
- Create standards to prioritise repeated projects and set reasonable scope and delivery expectations for stakeholders
- Prepare tailored presentations and reports for senior stakeholders.
- Present relevant market insights and strategic recommendations
- Actively and persuasively contribute competitive expertise in real-time during executive meetings and strategy sessions.
- Evaluate and select third-party data sources and tools to enhance market intelligence capabilities
- Manage contractual and financial relationships with external vendors, consultants, and research partners
- Mentor other competitive intelligence analysts
- Share best practices in research methodologies, data analysis, presentation, and stakeholder management
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience in market intelligence, market research, or a related field.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
- Proficiency in market research tools, data analysis software, and statistical techniques.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information to a non-technical audience.
- Demonstrated mentorship experience with the ability to support the growth of junior colleagues.
- Strong business acumen and strategic thinking abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
