The Role

JOB PURPOSE

The Senior Communications Specialist will execute and manage all internal communications programs that effectively inform employees and promote our culture. Under minimal supervision, the Senior Communications Specialist will provide strategic communications direction for their assigned audiences, developing tools and strategies as needed. This role will help lead the effective communication of information to targeted audiences. Able to act as a communicator as counsellor to the business.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ability to create effective communication plans and work with leadership to develop the communication strategy.
  • Provides communications support on a variety of topics and projects, often requiring multi-tiered communication strategies to multiple audiences.
  • Serve as the primary writer and content creator for internal communications.
  • Manage and execute the company’s communications channels, such as One Touch Weekly, by planning content, creating content and facilitating content approvals across departments and the leadership team.
  • Manage the company’s Values, culture and brand internal communications.
  • Support the company’s digital transformation project with effective and timely communications.
  • Serves as communications consultant in cross-departmental and/or cross-operating company teams.
  • Executes communications projects from planning through approval and publish phases.
  • Work closely with brand team design studio to generate videos and graphics designed to support internal communications which includes script writing, creative direction, production coordination and other duties assigned.
  • Define key performance indicators and prepare data reports for each communications channel.
  • To analyze and develop recommendations for strategic communication opportunities to enhance the brand.
  • Track and measure the success of communications efforts, to help inform recommendations to the leadership team.
  • Under minimal supervision, interact with executives on various communications assignments.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Communications or a related field.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in corporate communications.
  • Proven experience creating targeted content is advantageous.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Strong writing, editing, proofreading, layout and design, professional printing/publishing skills are essential, including ability to present concepts verbally.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to confidently work with and advise department leaders and corporate leadership on communications strategy and tactics.
  • Superior project management and time management skills.
  • Time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills necessary to work in a fast-paced environment, handling various tasks and changing priorities, while maintaining a high attention to detail and accuracy to achieve daily assignments and goals.
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of current trends in internal communications digital media/social media.
  • Self-motivated with a positive and professional approach to management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, OneDrive)
  • Proficient in Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Premier, Acrobat)
  • Proficient in SharePoint (digital content management)
  • Familiarity with Asana (project management) a plus.

**MAY PERFORM OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED**

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Standard office environment, usually indoors away from the elements with moderate noise. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Required to be in the office a minimum of three days per week. Remote work allowed based on company policy.

PHYSICAL EFFORT

Maintain a stationary position for extended periods; move about the office, operate computers and files, as needed; and frequently communicate with others. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.

SCHEDULING

  • This is a full-time benefits-eligible position, working Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. An employee in this position must be available to work occasionally on weekends and evenings, during peak periods.

TRAVEL

Local travel is required. Out of state travel is limited, but may be required for special training/conferences.
