Purpose

The Senior Supplier Commercial Manager is responsible for the commercial management and governance of Arqiva's most strategic utility supplier relationships. The role involves overseeing complex contractual arrangements throughout their lifecycle, ensuring contractual obligations and deliverables are achieved, managing commercial risk, and driving value through strong supplier performance, cost optimisation, and operational efficiency. The successful candidate will be highly detail-oriented, commercially astute, and capable of building trusted relationships across both supplier organisations and internal stakeholders.

Accountabilities 

  • Own, develop and manage the in-life commercial relationship with some key suppliers 
  • Building a comprehensive understanding of all commercial arrangements and seeking ways to prevent margin erosion, improve cash flow, and increase efficiency.
  • Understanding the contractual obligations for both the supplier and Arqiva and ensuring both parties adhere to these.
  • Ensuring all deliverables are understood by the relevant Arqiva Teams and carrying out regular reviews both internally and with the supplier on the progress of these until completion.
  • Monitoring performance against agreed KPI's, which will include the performance of subcontractors.
  • Implement risk management processes to track, assess, and mitigate commercial risks.
  • Working with Procurement to build a strong relationship with each supplier and provide support on contractual queries.
  • Act as the key link between finance and commercial teams, ensuring alignment on commercial governance processes
  • Working collaboratively with many different areas of the Business including Delivery, customer facing Commercial Management, Product, Legal, Finance, Procurement and Technology.
  • Ensuring contractual obligations and deliverables are clearly understood and manage the delivery of these with the relevant internal Team.
  • Carrying out monthly reviews with the Account Teams and suppliers to ensure that performance is in line with the commercial requirements.
  • Ensuring risk mitigation measures are understood and monitored / implemented. 
  • Tracking of obligations, deliverables and supporting documentation including the asset register, audits, KPIs, and Service Level reporting
  • Ensuring cost models are adhered to throughout contract lifecycle.
  • Proactively seeking and then driving incremental revenue and margin activities through revenue growth and/or cost reduction.

Skills & Experience

  • Demonstratable experience in dealing with commercial and contract management across a wide spectrum of activity.
  • Proven leadership working with suppliers, both internally and externally.
  • Strong decision making with the ability to balance conflicting priorities.
  • Strong risk management skills, and able to identify the most appropriate mitigation actions to reduce exposure.
  • Excellent communications at all levels and the ability to simplify complexity. 
  • Growth mindset, open to taking on new challenges and identifying and implementing business improvement activities.
  • Team player, willing to share experience as well as coach and mentor colleagues.
  • Must be an experienced Commercial Manager professional with a proven track record of success.
  • Background in Utilities and/or Telco is desirable.

Skills Required

  • Substantial experience in structuring and managing highly complex commercial models and contracts
  • Substantial experience in commercial management, contract management, or a related field
  • Strong experience with commercial contracts and contract negotiations
  • In-depth understanding of industry regulations and compliance requirements
  • Ability to manipulate and analyse data to inform commercial decisions
  • Effective negotiation skills, engaging at all organizational levels
  • Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Ability to draft contractual documents, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies
  • Experience coordinating with legal teams and external lawyers
  • Experience aligning commercial and finance teams on pricing governance and contract financials
