Kpler is looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer to join our platform team. The team is in charge of building and operating our real-time platform and infusing DevOps culture.

We live by the mantra “You build it, you run it”, that’s why in addition to building our developer platform, your focus will be to enhance the processes and tools that will help the developers to code fast, test fast and deploy continuously. As we gather more and more data, the scalability of the architecture is another challenge!

In this team, your mission is to:

  • Build and support a self-service, internal developer platform, that teams can leverage to deliver new features at high speed.
  • Work with the engineering team to design, build, and deploy applications, including large-scale data processing, computationally intensive statistical and ML models, and advanced analytics.
  • Design, build, and maintain Kpler's cloud-native infrastructure following the company's security guidelines and ensuring the platform's high availability.
  • Deploy and manage Kubernetes clusters, and Kafka brokers.
  • Take our infrastructure to the next level, building reliable and self-healing services, within a secure environment while relying on fully automated operations.
  • Troubleshoot incidents, identify root causes and implement preventive measures.
  • Enhance monitoring, logging, alerting systems and escalation processes.
  • Educate the engineering team on DevOps culture.

It will be a match if you have or are:

  • Minimum of 5 Years experience as a software engineer (including 3+ years of experience architecting, designing, and developing cloud/DevOps solutions).
  • Extensive experience with open-source technology and system engineering.
  • Some experience in developing software.
  • Skilled at working within a team, and autonomously as required.
  • Extensive experience working in a Linux environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of at least one cloud Provider (ideally AWS or GCP).
  • Programming knowledge (ideally Python or Go).
  • Expertise in CI/CD tools and practices and at least one configuration management tool (ideally Terraform).
  • Strong experience in Kubernetes and its ecosystem, including practical experience with Kubernetes in production.
  • Organised, communicative, and accountable - Enjoy being on a team and sharing knowledge

It will be even better if you have

  • Good knowledge of relational and document databases
  • Experience with event-sourcing / event-store architecture with Kafka.
  • Experience with Geo time-series databases.

What you will get at Kpler:

•We offer competitive compensation & benefits including work from home allowance, medical and life insurance, training and development allowance, paid volunteer work and more!

•You will get a company laptop and you can choose between Windows, Mac, or Linux

•Global maternity (extended leave), parental, festival and compassionate leave policies aligned to the contemporary needs of the family, and individual choices

And you REALLY want to join our Engineering team because…

• Interesting product & challenging technical problems to solve: our market is very specialized and quite complex! This means we build real algorithyms and there’s some serious software engineering at work here!

• Our growth is exponential: we build new features and products everyday! We frequently tackle brand-new business areas which means there’s always everything to build and always an interesting problem to sink your teeth into!

• We are at the cross-road of Software Engineering, Commodity, Energy and Finance. This creates an interesting cultural mix: We value the flexibility, collaboration and employee-centric approach that the Tech culture brings but we also value the pragmatism, hard-working and intellectual excellence expectation that often runs in the Finance and Energy worlds.
