The Role
Designs and operates resilient Azure cloud platforms using infrastructure as code, Ansible, and automated CI/CD. Owns networking, API Management, Functions, Azure SQL, Key Vault, observability, security, backups, disaster recovery, incident response, patching, scaling, and cost management. Builds production-grade automation, resilience testing, rollback processes, and day-two operations aligned with SLAs and SLOs.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and deploy infrastructure as code (Bicep/Terraform) — networking, APIM, Function hosting, SQL, Key Vault, monitoring
- Build Ansible playbooks/roles for configuration management, agent rollout, OS baselines and patching
- Build multi-stage CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions) with approval gates and tested rollback
- Automate secret rotation, scaling, provisioning/teardown, and routine operations
- Own day-2 operations: monitoring, incident response, patching, backups, capacity and cost review
- Design and prove platform resilience: zone redundancy, retry/throttling, backup/restore drills, defined RTO/RPO
- Own Azure API Management, Azure Functions hosting, Azure SQL, Key Vault, App Insights/Log Analytics, Defender for Cloud, and private networking
Requirements
Must-Have Experience
- 8+ years in infrastructure/DevOps/cloud platform engineering, 4+ years hands-on Azure in production
- Strong IaC practice (Bicep and/or Terraform) at module level
- Production Ansible experience (playbooks, roles, secrets integration)
- End-to-end CI/CD pipeline ownership (Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions)
- Strong Azure networking (VNets, NSGs, Private Endpoints, NAT Gateway, Front Door/App Gateway with WAF)
- Hands-on, as-code provisioning of APIM, Azure Functions, Azure SQL, Key Vault
- Managed Identity, RBAC, Key Vault lifecycle — no static credentials
- Observability: Application Insights, Log Analytics, KQL, actionable alerting
- Resilience/DR design and execution (backup, PITR, failover drills)
- Day-2 operations ownership against SLAs/SLOs
- Scripting in Python, PowerShell, or Bash
- Ability to work independently to production without close Azure supervision
Highly Desirable
- PCI DSS environment experience; tokenization-based scope reduction
- Microsoft Defender for Cloud (secure score, compliance dashboards)
- Payment gateway (CyberSource, PayPal) and tax engine (Ceretax, Avalara) integrations
- Order management/e-commerce fulfilment integrations; SendGrid or similar
- Legacy PHP/WooCommerce to cloud-native migration background
- Azure certification: AZ-204, AZ-305, or AZ-500
Skills Required
- 8+ years of infrastructure, DevOps, or cloud platform engineering experience
- 4+ years of hands-on Azure production experience
- Strong module-level infrastructure-as-code experience with Bicep and/or Terraform
- Production Ansible experience building playbooks, roles, and secrets integrations
- End-to-end CI/CD pipeline ownership using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions
- Strong Azure networking experience, including VNets, NSGs, Private Endpoints, NAT Gateway, Front Door, and Application Gateway with WAF
