ECS Federal, LLC is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer (AWS) with Red Hat OpenShift expertise to support Intelligence Community (IC) mission systems, including platforms enabling GEOINT, SIGINT, and all-source analysis.
In this role, you will design, build, and operate secure, scalable, and mission-resilient AWS environments and container platforms (Kubernetes/OpenShift) that power data-intensive analytics and operational workflows. You will work in classified environments to modernize legacy systems, enable cloud-native capabilities, and deliver solutions that directly support national security missions.
As a technical leader, you will drive cloud architecture, DevSecOps, and platform engineering best practices, with a focus on container orchestration and hybrid cloud integration.
Our team is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer with the following roles and responsibilities:
- Architect and implement secure AWS cloud solutions supporting mission applications and analytic platforms
- Design, deploy, and manage container platforms using Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes (including EKS/OpenShift hybrid patterns)
- Lead cloud migration and modernization efforts, transitioning legacy systems to cloud-native and containerized architectures
- Enable data ingestion, processing, and access for large-scale, multi-source intelligence datasets
- Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or CloudFormation
- Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support rapid, secure deployment in classified environments
- Apply Zero Trust principles and ensure compliance with IC security frameworks (RMF, NIST 800-53, ICD 503)
- Build and operate multi-account AWS environments aligned to mission and security boundaries
- Implement monitoring, logging, and observability solutions to support operational awareness and incident response
- Evaluate emerging technologies and lead proof-of-concept (PoC) efforts to solve mission challenges
- Collaborate with analysts, data engineers, cybersecurity teams, and mission stakeholders
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams
Key Responsibilities:
- Leverage DevSecOps and GitOps practices to automate infrastructure and application delivery
- Deploy and manage containerized workloads using Docker, Kubernetes and Red Hat OpenShift
- Integrate OpenShift with AWS services (IAM, networking, storage, and security controls)
- Support hybrid and multi-environment deployments, including on-prem, cloud, and cross-domain solutions
- Develop technical documentation, architecture designs, and feasibility assessments
- Establish security, monitoring, and incident response best practices.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and provide updates on technical progress and risks
- Must be a US Citizen
- Active TS/SCI clearance with the ability to obtain CI Poly
- Must be able to be on-site in a SCIF 4 days a week
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management or similar preferred
- 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, or platform engineering
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS (EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, RDS, Lambda, ECS/EKS)
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Hands-on experience with Red Hat OpenShift (deployment, administration, or platform support)
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) (Terraform preferred or CloudFormation)
- Experience building or maintaining CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or similar)
- Experience working in classified, IC, or highly regulated environments
- Solid understanding of cloud networking, security, and identity management
- Proficiency in scripting/programming (Python, Bash, or similar)
