Job Mission

The mission of the Senior Clinical Director at ACES is to elevate the standards in the treatment of Autism by managing the effective and efficient implementation of services provided by staff members.


Job Summary

The Senior Clinical Director (“SCD”) is primarily responsible for the overall growth and well-being of their assigned office location or of multiple locations and serviceable regions delivering a minimum of 175 hours of service per day with a span of control across a minimum of 12 Supervisors and 110 clients. The role of SCD is to ensure compliance with all policies and procedures, oversee quality of services, support continuous improvement, and provide direction and accountability of staff’s performance. This position helps to create and support a positive relationship between ACES staff and clients, and across ACES staff from both clinical and administrative departments. This position reports to the Regional Director.


Measures of Success

The SCD will be supporting ACES overall mission and vision of Elevating the Standards in the Treatment of Autism. The SCD is a vital role in achieving our goals, and successful SCDs will be able to achieve results in many areas of our business. The following provides a vantage of how we measure success of our SCD position, can evolve over time based on the needs and growth of the organization.

  • Clinical Oversight: SCDs will monitor the clinical quality of client programs and client outcome achievement. Key measures of success include but are not limited to client utilization, groups programming, QPI scores and COE metrics. SCDs may also manage the clinical program of a payer.
  • Clinic Performance: SCDs will assess, monitor and drive the overall performance and health of the clinics/serviceable areas. Responsibilities include but are not limited to monitoring compliance of staff with ACES and funder policies, optimizing staff performance, and growth metric achievement. Key measures of success include but are not limited to clinic capacity and utilization, caseload management, billable standards of staff and hours delivered achievement.
  • Leadership Training and Support: SCDs are responsible for the ongoing training, support, and mentorship of the clinical management of their regions in the areas of clinical excellence, individual performance metrics, and costumer service. SCDs are also responsible for the development and management of the pipeline of next generation leaders of their regions.
  • Culture Support: SCDs will promote a healthy ACES culture in their office. Key measures of success include but are not limited to effective management of culture and retention of both behavior technicians and clinical management team members.
  • Growth: SCDs will promote growth of their respective regions by engaging in community outreach projects in an effort to acquire referrals in grow the region in terms of client numbers. SCDs are responsible for growing their regions through the aforementioned activities and through managing local resources to process referrals, manage supervisor caseloads and communicate needs of the office to assist with growth.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Working under the supervision of the Regional Director and in concert with department heads and the executive team, essential job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Utilization Management: Conduct Daily and weekly reviews and problem solving with supervisors of client utilization for collective office and at individual client level. Champion and lead office wide initiatives to increase and maintain optimal utilization.
  • Conducting Ride-Alongs: Join supervisors monthly during natural supervisory visits in field or clinic to provide general feedback and support on the case and supervisory responsibilities.
  • QPI Monitoring and Collaboration: Join supervisors monthly during visits in field or clinic to provide feedback and support on the case and supervisory responsibilities.
  • Monitoring SV billable Standards: Collect exceptions and PTO requests, examining monthly summary numbers, regularly review planners and PBI dashboard, assign hours as needed, develop goals and intervention plans as necessary, monitor Associate Clinical Supervisor ratio compliance
  • Developing and monitoring SV cases loads and capacity: Update SV Capacity sheet, assisting in monitoring credentialing, assigning distribution of caseload by time of day, region, qualifications, facilitating case transfers as needed, communicate SV needs to Recruiting
  • BT/RBT management: Update RBT documentation as necessary, organize RBT "parties" and group study sessions, communicate board issues, assist in organizing competency exams. Assess and Monitor BT/ RBT needs and implement retention protocols.
  • Billing/Doc: Monitor Billing to doc data note audits at 1:1s, billing to doc monthly summary data, develop and execute intervention plans on low performing staff
  • Supervisor management: Conduct 1:1 meetings with supervisors, organize and conduct monthly group supervisors meeting including CEU facilitation, evaluate and request pay increases for staff, implement disciplinary procedures with staff, conduct interviews for New Hire or promotional applicants. Assign initial caseloads, conduct initial and ongoing supervisor training needs.
  • Communicating Expectations and supporting Department: Hold staff accountable to expectations from supporting departments. Promote positivity, flexibility and trust when changes occur. Develop a teamwork environment and provide support to all departments at ACES (e.g., Front Office, ZenDesk, Clinical, Recruiting, Training, Client Onboarding, etc).
  • Lead Culture Team: Establish an effective culture team with guidance from ACES leadership team. Make immediate decisions if and when appropriate. Delegate and escalate issues appropriately. Support and participate in culture initiatives, such as Autism Awareness Month, BI appreciation month, etc.
  • Community Outreach: SCDs will engage in outreach projects to support the growth of their region by meeting with physician groups, creating partnerships with schools and service providers (e.g. local SLPs and OTs), and connecting and maintain relationships with local parent groups.
  • In Clinic Services Oversight: SCDs will be primary drivers of in clinic services for their regions where applicable. This will include capacity determination, clinical program oversight and implementation of initiatives to promote in clinic services.
  • Mentorship of ACD/ ACDs in training: SCD maybe enlisted to help mentor and support ACD and ACDs in training of their general geographical under the guidance of their Regional Director
  • Billing Standard: CDs will have a billing standard of .5-1 hour per day

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force and lift/move up to 25 pounds
  • Direct work with clients may include, without limitation, the following physical demands: sitting, kneeling, squatting, running, twisting and turning, reaching above shoulders and/or frequent physical transitions
