Our Finance department has an excellent opportunity for Senior Analyst in our Client Value and Practice Economics team. This is an exempt, primarily remote position that reports to the Senior Manager of Client Value and Practice Economics. The Senior Analyst works with the Client Value and Practice Economics team, Practice Group Chairs, Office Managing Partners, Industry Team Leaders, Partners, senior Firm support staff and other stakeholders to develop and scale pricing and profitability best practices, materials, systems and tools.

This is an opportunity for an experienced, diplomatic self-starter to transition into the rapidly developing and expanding legal Client Value space. The role does not require a dedicated background in law firm pricing and project management, but rather an extensive, proven track record of achieving demonstrable results in account and program management, including revenue growth and market expansion via the implementation of data-driven strategies, ideally within a fast-paced professional services environment.

This opportunity will require some travel, including meetings with and presentations to Firm internal stakeholders and clientele. Abilities to present with confidence to large groups and to liaise with individuals at all levels of seniority are required. Data analytics and mining experience is key for success in this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Actively monitor client accounts for assigned practice groups to identify the potential for financial risk or erosion during all phases of the revenue cycle. Collaborate with analysts, Billing/Supervising Partners and Group/Team Leads to determine strategies and tactics for improving matter/client financial performance.
  • Collaborate with team members to drive the improvement of reports and data systems relating to the firm's Matter Management program. Work with Finance, IT staff and attorneys to drive implementation of requested and recommended changes.
  • Develop a specialized understanding of assigned practice pricing strategies and market sensitivities, and work to scale effective behaviors.
  • Utilize SQL, Excel and other data analytics platforms to project future revenue performance and profitability as well as assess viability of potential fee concessions.
  • Alongside Management, Partners, and Senior Marketing and IT staff, establish phase code methodology for assigned practice groups and teams to assist in price data mining, budgeting, and matter management; work with teams to designate and facilitate best practices in time recordation.
  • Serve as best-practices resource for partners, associates, staff and clients on matter tracking, management, budgeting, staffing and time recordation.
  • Review, revise and produce written content on client value services and programs for client presentations and proposals. Attend and participate in internal and client calls relating to business opportunities.
  • Leverage other teams (IT, FIN, MKT etc.) to produce and facilitate best practice materials (collateral, software, databases).
  • Proactively apply learning and insight with respect to law firm practices and priorities to build credibility and create relevant, timely and appropriate work product.
  • Identify issues or opportunities and raise them with the appropriate member of the team; track issues through resolution and document lessons learned.
  • Convey enthusiasm for problem solving, financial concepts and internal client service.
  • Must be able to extract and laterally manage output from Marketing, Finance, IT and other staff.
  • Assist with department projects as needed.
  • Oversee team Analysts, Coordinators and Assistants in the production of matter management / performance reports.
  • Other duties as requested and assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of five (5) years of experience leading programs or teams in a fast-paced, high-stakes professional services or financial services environment.
  • Very strong writing and presentation abilities with diplomatic tact required. A strong client service approach and team orientation, but with the ability to work independently and achieve program goals with minimal team support.
  • Establish credibility with staff and attorney base through quality work and communications that bring to bear the right mix of confidence, persistence, and reliability.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills with ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects to meet deadlines; ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with demanding individuals.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with a tolerance for uncertainty and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects with minimal supervision. Must have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with expert level skills in PowerPoint.
  • Other skills and abilities

The expected annual salary for this position ranges from $110,000 - 140,000. The salary offered will be determined by a wide range of factors including but not limited to experience level, education/training, and relevant skills.
