This role currently reports once per month to the Dearborn, Michigan administrative office building. Preferred candidates should live within a commutable distance to the Dearborn, Michigan area or be willing to travel for monthly meetings.

Senior Claims Data Analyst -AAA The Auto Club Group

Reports to: Manager Claims Reporting and Analysis

What you will do:

Serves as a subject matter expert to senior leadership and the Claims organization on reporting and data analysis. Ensures consistency and reliability in measuring, tracking, analyzing and reporting data for the Claims organization.  Performs data extractions from existing systems, prepares production reports and conducts trend analysis across all areas within Claims. Responsible for ad hoc reporting and data production related to litigation activities or government requests.

  • Develops and enhance claims and litigation reporting, using visualization or predictive analysis for data-driven decision making in the Claims and Litigation areas.   

  • Meet with various business lines to identify data requirements. 

  • Act as the data consultant on projects documenting progress and results

  • Produce reports to monitor goals and metrics, leveraging data reporting to drive business changes within the business units

  • Create dashboards to identify trends and patterns.  

  • Analyze data to identify problems/trends and make improvement recommendations. 

  • Use various tools to enhance reporting/analytic and data presentations. 

  • Meet with senior management to explain statistics, budgetary variances, etc. 

  • Liaise with departments (e.g. Finance, Human Resources, Actuarial, etc.) for statistics/information or the large-scale project coordination. 

  • Confer with General Counsel on legal matters and associated reports and/or projects.

We’re looking for candidates who:

Required Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, Information Systems, Insurance or a related field, or equivalent experience

Experience:

  • Analyzing data to identify trends and assess impact

  • Utilizing computer software (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Tableau, Google Cloud Platform) to format data bases, write queries, generate reports, etc.

  • Prioritizing work assignments

  • Coordinating data projects

  • Designing real-time performance metrics and dynamic, interactive data dashboards tailored for the business units

  • Using programming languages (e.g. Visual Basic, SQL)

  • Analyzing and summarizing data with Tableau or similar tool

  • Business planning and consulting Claims

  • Identifying, researching and resolving moderately complex to complex business problems

Skills and Ability to:

  • Format and prepare written reports

  • Contribute expertise in content knowledge

  • Communicate effectively in a work environment

  • explain statistics and interpret data for management personnel

  • Prepare and present recommendations to all levels for management

  • Work effectively in a team environment

  • Perform various concurrent activities

  • Possess strong interpersonal, communication, investigative and analytical skills

  • Exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills for report preparation Plan and manage projects including research and analysis

Preferred Qualifications

Experience:

  • Strong experience in Tableau, Google Looker Studio, power BI, or similar applications
  • Developing or using software for predictive models
  • SQL experience strongly perferred
  • Developing strategic tables
  • Project management experience a plus, but not required

Knowledge of:

  • Claim processing systems a plus, but not required
  • Claims and/or claims litigation policy provisions, principles and concepts a plus, but not required
  • Data modeling for Six Sigma or similar projects

Work Environment

This position is currently able to work remotely from a home office location for day-to-day operation unless occasional travel for meetings, collaborative activities, or team building activities is specified by leadership.  This is subject to change based on amendments and/or modifications to the ACG Flex Work policy
