OVERVIEW

We are seeking a Senior Solutions Analyst to join the Derivatives team within Global Operations. The position is based in Boston or Needham, Massachusetts. The team operates in a fast-paced environment, providing high-quality application support and practical technology solutions to derivatives investment, trading, and operations teams across the firm. This is a hybrid business and technology role focused on supporting, configuring, troubleshooting, and enhancing a suite of applications used for derivatives trading, analysis, processing, and settlement. The application environment includes Calypso as well as custom-built and third-party vendor platforms supporting the creation, execution, valuation, processing, and settlement of over-the-counter and other derivative instruments.

The successful candidate will work directly with investment professionals, traders, and operations teams to understand business challenges, investigate application and data issues, and deliver effective solutions. The role requires a combination of capital-markets knowledge, technical aptitude, analytical problem-solving, attention to detail, and a strong client-service orientation. The individual will become a subject matter expert in the team’s applications, workflows, integrations, and data while helping improve the stability and effectiveness of the broader derivatives platform.

This position is well suited to someone who is technically curious, interested in finance, and motivated to build deep expertise in derivatives applications and business processes. It offers opportunities to take ownership of meaningful outcomes, expand technical and financial knowledge, and grow into broader leadership responsibilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide timely, accurate, and client-focused support to investment professionals, traders, and operations teams using the firm’s derivatives applications.
  • Configure, maintain, and enhance Calypso and related custom-built or third-party applications supporting the derivatives lifecycle.
  • Investigate complex application, data, workflow, and integration issues; determine root causes and coordinate solutions across business and technology teams.
  • Develop a deep understanding of derivatives business processes, application capabilities, system integrations, data flows, and downstream consumers.
  • Partner directly with business users to understand their needs, evaluate solution options, and translate business challenges into practical system configurations, process improvements, or tactical solutions.
  • Perform business and technical analysis for urgent production issues, application enhancements, and new business requests.
  • Design, prototype, and implement tactical solutions using tools such as SQL and Excel, with appropriate testing, controls, and documentation.
  • Participate throughout the solution lifecycle, including analysis, design, configuration, implementation, testing, deployment, training, and ongoing support.
  • Collaborate with investment professionals, traders, operations teams, product owners, project managers, developers, systems analysts, and quality assurance analysts to deliver effective solutions.
  • Ensure solution quality through hands-on testing and the implementation of appropriate validations, controls, and operational guardrails.
  • Take ownership of issues and requests through resolution, clearly communicating status, risks, dependencies, and outcomes to stakeholders.
  • Identify recurring issues and opportunities to improve application stability, supportability, data transparency, system integrations, and business workflows.
  • Support user training and knowledge transfer to promote effective application use and strengthen operational readiness.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, finance, engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Relevant experience supporting, configuring, or enhancing business-critical applications within asset management, capital markets, or a related financial-services environment.
  • Strong understanding of capital markets and the investment lifecycle is required.
  • Knowledge of derivative instruments and workflows, including trade creation, execution, valuation, processing, or settlement, is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Calypso, Murex, or a comparable trading or investment-management OMS, front-end or investment accounting platform is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with investment professionals, traders, operations teams, or other business users to troubleshoot issues and deliver solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze application behavior, business workflows, data, and system integrations to diagnose problems and recommend practical solutions.
  • Hands-on SQL experience, including the ability to query relational databases, investigate data issues, and support reconciliation activities.
  • Strong Excel skills for data analysis, reconciliation, prototyping, and the development of tactical business solutions.
  • Ability to translate business needs into application configurations, functional requirements, process improvements, and practical technology solutions.
  • Experience in asset management or at an investment bank, custodian, or other capital-markets organization is preferred.
  • Progress toward or completion of a CFA, CAIA, FRM, or similar professional designation is a plus.
  • A technically curious mindset, a strong interest in finance, and the motivation to develop deeper expertise in derivatives applications and business processes.
  • Ability to work from the Boston or Needham office on on-site basis.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and delivery skills.
  • Ability to work independently in an energetic, fast-paced, and business-critical environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and remain effective when addressing urgent issues.
  • Commitment to delivering work on time and overcoming obstacles.
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability for outcomes.
