Job Summary

Are you a Business Systems Analyst who thrives on solving complex challenges and driving meaningful business impact? At Alliant Energy, you'll play a key role in modernizing how we manage critical assets, leading complex initiatives across platforms like Maximo and partnering with business and IT teams to deliver scalable solutions. You'll lead solutions from concept to implementation, working with stakeholders to define requirements, test enhancements, deploy changes, and continuously improve critical systems. This is a high-visibility role with real ownership and influence, offering the opportunity to shape critical systems and help drive the future of a growing energy company. 

What you will do

  • Builds and maintains business systems using Agile principles and processes.

  • Relying on experience and general direction from manager, ensures systems are operating as designed, evaluates system processes and procedures, evaluates requests for changes to the system, develops recommendations to solve problems and issues related to business system operations, and makes decisions involving detailed knowledge of operational issues.

  • Typically works on complex, new, and less defined initiatives to assess and refine user stories, collaborate with scrum teams and product owners on solutions, develop test plans, conduct testing, and implement systems and system improvements.

  • Voices customer requirements into user stories and documents using Agile tools.

  • Communicates with peers such that all stakeholders clearly understand user stories.

  • Assists service and product owners in communicating business system initiatives and improvements.

  • Understands the business process and establishes standard procedures to ensure business systems are executed at an acceptable level of quality.

  • Supports end users in developing moderately complex reports and/or database queries and trains other analysts in the use of these tools.

  • Handles complex inquiries regarding the technical aspects of business systems by aiding and coordinating work with IT staff and other business units.

  • Develops and rolls out system application training for technical, departmental, and end users.

  • Develops business cases for capital projects.

  • Documents procedures and maintains corporate compliance with mandated regulations by leading and in some cases owning the development

  • Supports on-call activities for system support needs.

  • Engages in other duties as needed that support Alliant Energy’s Values and helps deliver on our Purpose to serve customers and build stronger communities.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Business Administration, Information Systems, or related area. Preferred

Required Experience

  • 5 years technical or professional experience.

  • Business analysis, requirements analysis, requirements management, program management, product management, software design, software development, software testing experience required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to work with and maintain highly confidential information.

  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead a development team to the successful conclusion of highly complex technology initiatives.

  • Demonstrated ability to use computer software programs (e.g., e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and project management). Demonstrated ability with database query tools, automating testing tools, workflow diagramming, and reporting and retention tools preferred.

  • Excellent organizational skills. Ability to work effectively when multiple priorities and timelines exist.

  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

Pay Range:

$85,000-$116,000

This position is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
