Careers with Optum offer flexible work arrangements and individuals who live and work in the Republic of Ireland will have the opportunity to split their monthly work hours between our Dublin or Letterkenny office and telecommuting from a home-based office in a hybrid work model.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Own end-to-end invoicing and billing processes, including Commercial Billing, Intersegment Billing, and related invoicing workflows, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
  • Support financial operations reporting by maintaining and improving billing input files, monthly planning support files, and tracking outputs
  • Partner with Finance, Operations, and technical teams to ensure alignment between billing activity and financial outcomes, confidently articulating assumptions and methodology
  • Maintain a deep understanding of upstream billing and invoicing drivers and clearly articulate their downstream financial and operational impact
  • Drive the transition from manual, file-based billing workflows to automated and scalable data solutions
  • Define and enforce data quality, validation, and reconciliation controls across invoicing and billing outputs, ensuring confidence in executive-facing metrics
  • Communicate complex billing and financial findings clearly to stakeholders, including explaining variances, risks, and process changes
  • Act as a thought partner in ongoing data platforms and reporting modernization initiatives, including readiness for migration to Snowflake or similar cloud-based environments
  • Any other activities as required

You will be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role, as well as providing development for other roles you may be interested in.
Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in Finance Operations, Billing, Invoicing, Revenue Cycle, or Analytics roles supporting complex, high-volume operational or financial environments
  • Proven experience with billing processes, invoice cycles, reconciliation, and financial controls within a structured enterprise environment
  • Demonstrated proficiency in SQL for querying and analyzing data from server-level table views and enterprise data sources
  • Proven experience working with cloud-based data warehouse or analytics platforms, including querying, validation, and downstream reporting use cases
  • Proven ability to analyze large, ambiguous, or incomplete data sets and identify clear conclusions, themes, and trends
  • Demonstrated solid analytical and problem-solving skills, including trend analysis, root cause analysis, and connecting billing activity to business outcomes
  • Demonstrated proficiency across hybrid analytics environments, including SQL and at least one additional analytics or scripting tool such as Python, R, or advanced Excel
  • Proven experience with data validation, reconciliation, and quality assurance processes to ensure confidence in billing outputs and financial recommendations
  • Demonstrated solid communication and data storytelling skills with the ability to explain outcomes, drivers, and recommended actions
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and operate effectively in evolving environments with developing data and process maturity

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proven experience supporting healthcare, revenue cycle, or other regulated operational environments where billing accuracy and financial integrity are critical
  • Proven experience with Snowflake or participation in data migration and modernization initiatives involving cloud-based analytics platforms
  • Demonstrated familiarity with data modeling, semantic layers, curated reporting views, or analytics engineering concepts and practices
