Senior BI Developer

Role Overview

We are seeking a strong Software Developer – ETL to support the design and development of data warehousing, Business Intelligence, reporting, and analytics solutions.

The operating environment includes JEE, CURAM, Crystal Reports, Oracle SQL/PL SQL, Power BI, Oracle Database, Business Objects Universe and Dashboarding, WebI, Bursting technologies, and Informatica ETL.

Work Arrangement: Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Perform analysis, design, development, unit testing, defect fixing, and other necessary tasks in a data warehousing and BI environment using Oracle PL/SQL.
  
• Design, develop, and test Informatica mappings.
  
• Develop ETL scripts to transfer and transform data from OLTP databases to the Data Warehouse and Data Marts.
  
• Develop and maintain BOE reports.
  
• Communicate progress clearly and in a timely manner to the management team.
  
• Must have skills in Crystal Reports, Informatica, Power BI, and BOE reporting.

• Experience in programming and analysis and specialized software package support at the specified experience level.
  
• Ability to collaborate with IT professionals throughout the Software Development Life Cycle.
  
• Experience in structured methodologies for the development, design, implementation, and maintenance of applications.

• Experience in the use of object and/or third-generation language development tools.
  
• Experience in one or more programming languages.
  
• Experience in application design, latest design patterns, deployment, and troubleshooting.
  
• Experience with relational and hierarchical database technologies.
  
• Experience in the use of information retrieval packages using query languages.
  
• Experience with one or more communications protocols.
  
• Experience in structured methodologies for the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of applications.
  
• Experience eliciting and documenting information from diverse business-area stakeholders and subject matter experts.
  
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  
• Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.

Desirable Skills

• Knowledge and experience with programming Internet-ready applications.
  
• Knowledge and experience in rapid application development (RAD) methodologies.
  
• Knowledge and understanding of Information Management principles, concepts, policies, and practices.
  
• Experience with middleware and gateways.
  
• Experience reviewing, analyzing, and modifying product installation scripts, including encoding, testing, and debugging.
  
• Ability to provide post-implementation support and resolve post-implementation technical issues.
  
• Experience conducting design walkthrough sessions with project teams.
  
• Knowledge and understanding of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and related regulations and standards.
  
• Ability to provide user and system documentation as required.
  

Experience and Skill Set Requirements

Technical Skills – 70%

Must Have:

• 5+ years of experience with analysis, design, development, unit testing, defect fixing, and other necessary tasks in data warehousing and BI environments.
  
• 5+ years of experience designing and developing Crystal Reports, Power BI, and BOE reports.
  
• 5+ years of experience designing, developing, and testing Oracle SQL and PL/SQL.
  
• 5+ years of experience designing, developing, and testing in Informatica.
  
• Experience with technology solutions and development methodologies.
  
• Experience analyzing and designing changes to existing web-based software solutions.
  
• Complete knowledge of SDLC methodologies, including Agile development.
  
• Experience with RDBMS design concepts.
  
• Experience with Data Warehouse design, reporting, and ETL concepts.
  
• Experience with Data Warehouse architecture, design, dimensional modeling, development, and deployment of Business Intelligence systems.
