On your day to day
As a Senior Backend Engineer on the Platform & Infra Team, you will own the core plumbing of the Riverside ecosystem:
- Architecting Scalability: Design and optimize the core processing systems that handle massive concurrency and petabytes of video/audio data.
- Driving DevEx: Create the tools, internal platforms, and CI/CD abstractions that empower our product teams to ship code faster and more safely.
- GraphQL & API Excellence: Own and optimize our GraphQL layer to ensure seamless, high-performance communication across our microservices.
- Infrastructure as Code: Maintain and evolve our AWS environment, focusing on automation, observability, and cost-efficiency.
- AI Infrastructure & Agentic Systems: Build and scale the infrastructure powering Riverside’s AI workflows, including MCP integrations and agent-based systems, with a focus on reliability, observability, and real-time orchestration.
What Will Make You Stand Out?
- The Experience: 6+ years in backend engineering with a heavy leaning toward infrastructure, platform, or systems design.
- The Tech Stack: Expert-level Node.js and TypeScript skills.
- API Mastery: Strong experience with GraphQL (schema design, performance, and scaling).
- The Data Layer: Deep understanding of MongoDB, Postgres and how to optimize it for high-scale environments.

Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience
- 6+ years software development experience with emphasis on backend
- Experience with MongoDB
- Experience with workflow systems like Cadence or Temporal
- Familiarity with video processing and streaming technologies, ffmpeg or gstreamer
- Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and microservices architecture
- Proficiency in Git, CI/CD, and automated testing
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to analyze and optimize complex systems
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills in English
- Strong knowledge of software development best practices, design patterns, and code quality
