Senior Automation QA (Java) Engineer

Ciklum is looking for a Senior Automation QA (Java) Engineer to join our team full-time in India.

About the role:

We are seeking an experienced and vision-driven Senior Automation QA (Java) Engineer to join our Quality Engineering team working on high-throughput, low-latency financial systems.

In this role, you will lead end-to-end quality strategies, architect scalable test automation frameworks, and drive performance engineering initiatives. You will serve as a technical subject matter expert, defining quality benchmarks, identifying architectural bottlenecks before production release, and mentoring mid-level engineers to foster a culture of quality excellence.

Responsibilities:

• Quality Strategy & Comprehensive Test Analysis:
  • Lead test planning and analysis across complex fintech platforms; translate high-level business goals and technical specifications into enterprise test strategies
  • Establish quality metrics, test coverages, and risk assessment models for complex system releases
  • Drive root-cause analysis (RCA) for complex, multi-service defect scenarios and lead post-incident reviews to continuously improve release reliability
• Automation Architecture & API Engineering:
  • Architect, scale, and optimize maintainable test automation frameworks using Core Java, Selenium WebDriver, and TestNG
  • Establish robust API automation standards and frameworks using RestAssured, ensuring seamless end-to-end validation across REST and SOAP microservices
  • Own CI/CD pipeline integration for automated regression test suites using Git, Maven, and CI tools to enable true continuous testing
• Performance Engineering & APM Diagnostics:
  • Define end-to-end performance testing strategies (Load, Stress, Endurance, Spike) using Apache JMeter to simulate high-volume transaction loads
  • Perform deep-dive system analysis using Splunk and Dynatrace to identify JVM memory leaks, database bottlenecks, slow queries, and latency spikes across distributed architectures
  • Partner with DevOps and System Architects to define Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs) and SLA thresholds
• Technical Leadership & Agile Ownership:
  • Act as a quality advocate within Agile teams, championing Quality Engineering best practices during sprint planning, backlog refinement, and architectural reviews
  • Mentor and coach junior and mid-level QA engineers, conducting code reviews for automation scripts to ensure high maintainability and performance

Requirements:

• 6 to 10 years of progressive experience in software quality engineering, with at least 3+ years in high-performance enterprise systems or the Fintech / Financial Services domain
• Advanced expertise in Test Strategy creation, risk-based testing, and system-level test analysis
• Deep proficiency in Core Java and hands-on architecture experience with Selenium, TestNG, RestAssured, Maven, and Git
• Advanced performance engineering expertise using Apache JMeter to build realistic load profiles for complex distributed systems
• Strong hands-on experience using Splunk and Dynatrace for root-cause log analysis, distributed tracing, and infrastructure monitoring
• Proven track record of integrating test suites into modern continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines
• Outstanding leadership, critical thinking, and cross-functional communication skills

Desirable:

• Experience with cloud-native architectures (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Knowledge of database tuning and advanced SQL querying for performance isolation
