THE OPPORTUNITY
As a member of the Client Relations team, the Senior Associate/Associate has a broad range of responsibilities related to institutional client relationship management. The position fosters and strengthens long-term partnerships with our clients and with internal BCI departments in our collective objective to ensure we consistently exceed the service and performance expectations of our clients. This position entails extensive dealings with senior staff in other BCI departments, as well as external parties (e.g., consultants, stakeholders, clients).
The Senior Associate/Associate is directly accountable to the Director, Client Relations. The Senior Associate/Associate works collaboratively with other team members by providing leadership on a broad range of functions to support CIR’s Client Relations Managers in delivering on the overall goals of the department.
WHAT YOU BRING

University degree in Economics, Business, Finance, or a related discipline

Preference for candidates working towards the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation or similar designation

Senior Associate - 5+ years of progressive experience in a financial organization(s) or related function or business administration experience. Institutional investment management or client-facing experience is an asset

Associate - Minimum of three years of experience in a financial organization(s), with equivalent experience or education considered

A strong conceptual understanding of investment principles and practices spanning all asset classes (Fixed Income; Public Equities, Mortgages, Real Estate, Infrastructure & Private Equity); and, and the demonstrated ability to apply concepts in work activities

Team-oriented, with a responsive and client-focused approach

Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with confidence and work collaboratively with internal partners and external stakeholders

Excellent writing and peer review/editing skills with a high attention to detail

Well-developed problem-solving abilities; able to identify opportunities for process improvement and implement as needed

Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Power BI, Teams), CRM systems, Adobe Acrobat Pro and SharePoint

The Corporate & Investor Relations (CIR) department plays a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing BCI's relationships with its clients and stakeholders through world-class engagement.
Within CIR, as part of the Client Partnerships team, Client Relations is committed to the valued partnerships BCI has built with clients to ensure they achieve their long-term financial goals in a rapidly changing world.
WHAT YOU GET TO DO
The Senior Associate/Associate supports the efforts of the Client Relations Directors and Managers to proactively ensure that BCI exceeds our clients’ service expectations; and, in the process, develops a strong understanding of each clients’ needs. They represent BCI in its dealings with our valued clients and other external stakeholders (e.g., industry participants, service providers, etc.).
Assist in Creating Successful Client Engagements:

Support the development/writing/formatting of client documents from across the organization, including proofreading/editing

Conduct independent research and analysis on a wide range of investment topics and draft briefings/materials for review by the Directors and Relationship Managers

Assist the Relationship Managers with the planning and coordination of client meetings including agenda planning and liaising with internal partners

Prepare briefings for BCI executive team

Participate in delivering client investment education programs and client events developed by CIR’s Client Experience team
Provide Responsive Client Servicing:

Build a close working relationship with client contacts and the BCI team

Provide complete and timely written responses to client queries, with minimal oversight required

Support the Relationship Managers in identifying client issues, and in delivering periodic client account meetings to review performance and identify opportunities for improvement
Promote Strong Relations with Internal Partners:

Share insights across the team and provide actionable recommendations

Work collaboratively within the Client Partnerships teams to coordinate deliverables associated with shared projects

Work with other departments of BCI to improve systems, processes and communications, and collaboration
Corporate Responsibilities:

Support departmental and corporate initiatives to strengthen client confidence in BCI and measurably improve client satisfaction levels

Champion BCI’s client-centric culture in every interaction

May select and manage temporary team members such as co-op students and interns

Work from our downtown Victoria office.
SALARY RANGE
BCI offers a competitive total rewards package which includes a performance-based incentive plan, comprehensive health & dental benefits, a defined benefit pension plan and paid time off.
The annualized base salary range for this Senior Associate role is CAD $100,000 to $120,000, and for the Associate role, it is CAD $90,000 to $105,000.
The base salary offered to the successful candidate will consider a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill set, level of experience applicable to the role they are being offered and consideration to internal equity.
We pay our people competitively in the markets in which we compete for talent and with consideration to internal equity and job structure. We aim for actual pay to be around the median of the market for target or expected levels of performance, and around the upper quartile of the market for excellent performance.
Actual salaries may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, including, but not limited to, experience and expertise.
