Job Summary
The Senior Associate, Valuation Control will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial valuations for various investment products. This position involves performing independent price verification, analyzing valuation methodologies, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to maintain robust valuation control processes within SS&C Financial Services.
Job Responsibilities
* Execute independent price verification (IPV) across a diverse range of financial instruments, including fixed income, derivatives, equities, and alternative investments, ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures.
* Critically assess and challenge valuation models, inputs, and assumptions used by front office and third-party administrators.
* Investigate and resolve valuation discrepancies, working closely with portfolio managers, risk management, and operations teams.
* Prepare detailed valuation reports and present findings to senior management, highlighting key risks and trends.
* Contribute to the development and enhancement of valuation control frameworks, policies, and procedures.
* Participate in the onboarding of new products and clients, ensuring appropriate valuation control measures are implemented.
* Stay abreast of industry best practices, regulatory requirements, and accounting standards related to financial instrument valuation (e.g., ASC 820/IFRS 13).
* Assist in external and internal audit processes by providing documentation and explanations related to valuation control activities.
* Mentor and provide guidance to junior team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
Job Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Accounting, or a related quantitative field. Master's degree or CFA designation preferred.
* 3-5 years of experience in valuation control, product control, risk management, or a similar analytical role within the financial services industry.
* Strong understanding of financial instruments, including complex derivatives, fixed income securities, and alternative investments.
* Proficiency in valuation methodologies, pricing models, and market data sources (e.g., Bloomberg, Refinitiv).
* Advanced Excel skills are required; experience with VBA, Python, SQL, or other programming languages is a significant plus.
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities with keen attention to detail.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex financial concepts clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
