How You Will Contribute:
Reporting to the Manager, Field Systems Engineering Operations, as a Senior Associate, Sales Engineering, you will support Sales Engineer (SE) activities and customer projects and bid activity as part of the Global System Engineering Support Center. You will use your deep technical knowledge and expertise to partner with different Regional Sales Engineering teams to develop high value Ciena optical and networking proposals that accurately address specific customer technical needs. You’ll be actively involved in all pre-sales activities, such as customer presentations and demonstrations to articulate use-cases, designing and validating solutions, providing technical consultancy, and working on RFx with the objective of fostering the sales cycle.
You will perform solution designs, link engineering and simulations to validate network designs on Ciena proprietary network design tools, proactively and accurately identify prospect pain points while proposing creative solutions.
You will work on various RFx deliverables such as Link Engineered Design, BOQ, Product SOC responses and Technical Solution Documentation.
You will be accountable for the development of custom presentations and demonstration of use-cases and value to prospective customers and configure and setup labs to showcase different product features and functionalities.
You will collect the latest features in solutions and technologies and identify relevant insights to be shared with the Product Line Management and SE leadership teams.
You will partner with different technical teams to address specific validation and consulting requirements.
The Must Haves:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Telecommunications engineering / Computer Science or equivalent, coupled with proven experience in the telecommunications industry with a focus on System/Sales Engineering operations.
Preferred range of experience in the suitable role is 3-7 years.
Proficiency in fiber optics transmission systems such as Photonic / DWDM Systems and architectures, OTN Switching and Coherent Transmission.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Experience with customer requirements, networks and services and RFP technical specifications.
