Job Summary
Role Mission:
The Senior Associate General Counsel will provide general legal services, representation, and counsel to Sentara Health on various health care and health care regulatory matters. The Senior Associate General Counsel will have experience working in highly matrixed organizations, strong analytical ability, outstanding negotiation and communication skills, with sharp attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regulatory research and analysis.
- Lead health regulatory M&A and commercial transactional work.
- Manage and direct the legal aspects of Sentara Health teams in preparation of letters of intent, responses to requests for proposal, term sheets and analysis of transaction opportunities.
- Manage various health care related litigation matters.
- Advise business teams, senior executives and various system boards on compliance with Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, policies and procedures. Provide counsel and guidance on the creation and adherence to Sentara Health’s internal policies and procedures and corporate governance matters generally.
- Attend business meetings and provide corporate secretary functions for Sentara Health affiliates, including drafting meeting minutes, written consents, and development of meeting agendas.
- Manage, direct, and conduct legal due diligence activities.
Supervise and direct the management of various medical staff matters.

Skills and Knowledge:
- Unrestricted license to practice law in one or more jurisdictions in the United States.
- Candidates must be eligible for admission to the Virginia State Bar
- Analyze and opine upon federal, state and local health care laws and regulations including Stark and Anti-Kickback statutes.
- Ability to communicate complex matters concisely and effectively in oral and written form is required.
- Solid analytical skills and solution-driven thinking; exceptional problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills and demonstrated attention to detail.

Qualifications:
DLD - Doctorate Level Degree: Juris Doctor (Required)Law firm or Corporation legal department experience is preferred In-house or law firm health care experience preferred, Legal experience with specific focus on general corporate and health care matters
