Role Purpose
The KYC Manager is responsible for end‑to‑end ownership of the KYC function, covering client onboarding, periodic refresh, and transaction‑level KYC input and verification for US funds, legal entities, and complex client structures.
The role combines operational leadership, regulatory accountability, risk oversight, and stakeholder management, ensuring zero‑tolerance quality standards, strong control frameworks, and consistent delivery against regulatory and client expectations. The Manager plays a pivotal role in building and sustaining a high‑performing, world‑class KYC operation at KATS – Bangalore.
Responsibilities:
KYC Onboarding & Refresh – Data, Risk & Compliance Execution
Provide full accountability for KYC onboarding, periodic refresh, and transaction‑level KYC for US funds, entities, and related client structures.
Oversee and actively review KYC data input, verification, and validation, including transaction‑specific KYC requirements.
Ensure all customer identification, ownership, control, and transaction‑related information is accurate, complete, and compliant with regulatory and internal policy standards.
Conduct and review customer risk assessments, approve risk classifications, and ensure timely updates to risk scores and profiles in KYC systems.
Perform oversight of sanctions, PEP, and adverse media screenings during onboarding, refresh, and transaction lifecycle events.
Identify, assess, and escalate red flags, high‑risk relationships, and complex issues, ensuring timely resolution and appropriate sign‑off.
Act as a key point of contact for MLRO and Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) teams for alert management, investigations, and regulatory escalations.
Ensure all KYC and transaction‑related records in KATS / KYC systems are accurate, complete, and audit‑ready at all times.
Enforce a zero‑tolerance approach to errors, with strong emphasis on risk management, controls, and regulatory adherence.
Ensure delivery against SLAs, regulatory timelines, and client commitments while balancing quality and throughput.
Team Leadership, Process Management & Governance
Lead, mentor, and develop KYC analysts and senior analysts, ensuring consistent application of policies, procedures, and quality standards.
Demonstrate 100% ownership of the assigned KYC desk(s) and overall day‑to‑day operational performance.
Ensure timely, accurate, and professional responses to US stakeholders, clients, and internal partners, with no communication gaps.
Maintain robust email governance and escalation discipline, ensuring tracking, follow‑ups, and closure of all communications.
Proactively manage client expectations and address issues through clear communication and structured problem resolution.
Oversee preparation and review of monthly MIS and management reporting, including productivity, quality, risk, control breaches, and trends.
Actively lead and support internal audits, regulatory exams, and compliance reviews, ensuring documentation, evidence, and responses are complete and timely.
Serve as a trusted stakeholder in KATS, contributing subject‑matter expertise to enhance KYC frameworks, policies, and processes.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen controls, improve efficiency, and build a resilient, scalable KYC operating model.
Act as a role model for professionalism, ownership, integrity, and compliance excellence across the process.
Key Skills & Competencies:
Deep and proven knowledge of KYC, AML, and regulatory requirements, particularly for US funds, entities, and transaction monitoring considerations.
Strong leadership capability with experience managing teams and complex operational portfolios.
Excellent analytical, risk assessment, and decision‑making skills.
High attention to detail with strict control orientation and audit mindset.
Strong stakeholder management skills with ability to engage confidently with Compliance, MLRO, FCC, and US business teams.

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, Business, or a related discipline; professional KYC certifications are an added advantage.
6–10+ years of experience in KYC / AML operations, with demonstrated leadership responsibility.
Proven hands‑on experience in KYC onboarding and periodic reviews/refreshers.
Exposure having experience supporting US region KYC processes and complex client structures is added advantage.
Willingness to work in US business hours (6 PM – 3 AM IST).
Strong hands‑on experience in KYC onboarding, periodic refresh, and transaction‑level KYC oversight.
