About Clear Street:

Clear Street is modernizing the brokerage ecosystem. Founded in 2018, Clear Street is a diversified financial services firm replacing the legacy infrastructure used across capital markets.

We started from scratch by building a completely cloud-native clearing and custody system designed for today’s complex, global market. Clear Street’s proprietary prime brokerage platform adds significant efficiency to the market, while focusing on minimizing risk, redundancy, and cost for clients. Our goal is to create a single source-of-truth platform for every asset class, in every country, and in any currency.

By combining highly-skilled product and engineering talent with seasoned finance professionals, we’re building the essentials to compete in today’s fast-paced markets.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Broker-Dealer Accountant with knowledge of SEC Rules 15c3-1 and 15c3-3. This role assists with regulatory financial reporting, net capital compliance, and reserve calculations, while maintaining accurate books and records for multiple regulated legal entities.

Experience with FCM (Futures Commission Merchant) or SBSD (Security-Based Swap Dealer) entities is preferred. The ideal candidate understands how broker-dealer accounting intersects with equities, commodities, and swap regulations and can manage overlapping regulatory frameworks with confidence.

  • Perform Customer and PAB Reserve calculations under SEC Rule 15c3-3.
  • Prepare and file FOCUS Reports for multiple regulated entities.
  • Monitor daily and monthly net capital requirements to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Support regulatory filings related to the broker-dealer, FCM, and SBSD entities.
  • Coordinate with FINRA, SEC, CFTC, NFA, and external auditors during exams and audits.

Accounting & Financial Management

  • Maintain the broker-dealer and SBSD general ledgers and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, clearing accounts, trading activity, and customer balances.
  • Review and document intercompany transactions and expense allocations.
  • Assist with annual audited financial statements and regulatory reporting.

Internal Controls & Process Improvement

  • Develop and maintain internal controls around capital and reserve processes.
  • Identify regulatory risks and implement corrective procedures.
  • Partner with operations, compliance, and treasury to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Improve reporting workflows and strengthen documentation.

Required Qualifications

  • Series 27 license highly preferred (or willingness to obtain).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred).
  • 3+ years of broker-dealer accounting experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience with SEC Rules 15c3-1 and 15c3-3.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing schedules for FOCUS Reports.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting systems (NetSuite preferred).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with FCM (Futures Commission Merchant) or SBSD (Security-Based Swap Dealer) entities.
  • Experience with segregation, secured amount, or swap dealer capital calculations.
  • Experience in multi-entity financial services environments.

Key Competencies

  • Strong technical accounting and regulatory expertise.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines in a regulated environment.
  • Clear and confident communication with regulators and auditors.
  • Independent and proactive work style.
