Position Overview:
Dutch Bros isn't just about coffee; it's about building a legendary brand with an amazing customer experience. We are growing as a company and as an architecture team. We are seeking a forward-thinking Data Architect to design the foundation of our data future. This role will lead our data solutions architecture, working across the enterprise to define how we manage, govern, and utilize our data assets. The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in data engineering and is capable of both strategic planning and hands-on design. You will champion the implementation of a Medallion architecture and ensure our data platforms are robust enough to support advanced analytics and the application of AI.
Job Qualifications:

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering and architecture: You have a deep understanding of building scalable data pipelines and platforms.

• 5+ years of experience designing cloud-native data solutions: You have a proven track record with modern data stacks (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, AWS, Azure).

• Medallion Architecture Expert: You have strong experience implementing and managing Bronze/Silver/Gold data layer architectures.

• AI/ML Readiness: You understand the specific data requirements needed to support Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning workloads.

• Data Strategy & Governance: You can articulate a clear data strategy and define governance standards to ensure data quality and accessibility.

• Communication Superstar: You can explain complex data concepts to stakeholders across the enterprise, bridging the gap between technical engineering and business value.

• Education: A Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field is required.

Location Requirement: 
This role is located in Tempe, Arizona. This position is required to be in office 4 days per week (Mon-Thurs); Fridays are optional remote work days.
Key Result Areas (KRAs):

Enterprise Data Strategy & Architecture

Objective: Define and drive the strategic vision for how the enterprise manages and uses data. Align data architecture with business goals and AI initiatives.

• Develop and maintain the enterprise data architecture roadmap and blueprints.

• Define and enforce standards for data modeling, naming conventions, and data integration.

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify data needs and translate them into technical solutions.

• Establish data governance frameworks to ensure data accuracy, privacy, and security.

Platform Engineering & Medallion Architecture

Objective: Architect robust, scalable data platforms using best-in-class engineering patterns. Ensure data reliability and accessibility through structured design.

• Design and oversee the implementation of a scalable Medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold layers).

• Optimize data pipelines for performance, cost, and reliability.

• Standardize patterns for data ingestion, transformation, and storage across the Technology landscape.

• Evaluate and prototype new data engineering tools and technologies to drive operational excellence.

Data Enablement for AI & Innovation

Objective: Architect data solutions that specifically support the application of AI and advanced analytics. Transform raw data into a strategic asset for innovation.

• Design data structures and pipelines specifically optimized for AI/ML model training and inference.

• Work with data scientists and engineers to ensure high-quality feature availability.

• Deliver proof-of-concept architectures that demonstrate the business value of AI-driven data insights.

• Build reusable patterns for analytics and data integration to accelerate business intelligence adoption.

Physical Requirements:

• In-Office Environment: Must be able to work in a busy, crowded, and loud office with frequent distractions and interruptions

• Must be able to collaborate in-person with occasional impromptu in-person meetings 

• Office Conditions: Adaptability to typical office conditions, which may include exposure to air conditioning, heating, artificial lighting, and varying noise levels

• Mobility: Ability to sit, stand, reach, twist, stretch, and work at a desk for long stretches.  Must be able to occasionally move or lift office items up to 25 pounds

• Hearing Requirements: Hearing must be sufficient or correctable to ensure clear understanding of spoken information, including participating in virtual meetings and phone calls. Use of hearing aids or other assistive devices is acceptable if needed.

• Reading and Writing Proficiency: Ability to read and write in English is essential for processing documents, drafting reports, and following up on necessary actions. Proficiency in written communication is required to handle job-related tasks effectively.

• Vision Requirements: Vision must be adequate or correctable to perform essential job duties, such as reading documents on a computer screen and using other visual tools. Use of corrective lenses or other measures to meet visual requirements is expected if needed.

• Technology Proficiency: Must be proficient in operating a computer and other office productivity tools such as printers, scanners, and collaboration software. 

• Effective Communication: Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with team members, clients, and other stakeholders via email, video conferencing, and other in office communication tools.
