The Impact you will have in this role:

We are seeking an experienced Appian Development Senior Associate to design, develop, and support enterprise-grade business process management (BPM) and workflow automation solutions using the Appian Low-Code Platform. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Appian application development, integration design, process automation, and production support within Agile delivery environments.

The candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, architects, product owners, QA teams, and support teams to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing business applications.

Your Primary Responsibilities: 

Application Development

  • Design, develop, configure, and deploy Appian applications leveraging Appian best practices.
  • Build and maintain: 
    • Process Models
    • Appian Interfaces (SAIL)
    • Record Types
    • Reports and Dashboards
    • Business Rules
    • Expression Rules
    • Integrations
  • Develop reusable components and frameworks to accelerate application delivery.
  • Perform code reviews and ensure adherence to development standards. 

Solution Design & Architecture

  • Participate in solution design discussions and technical architecture reviews.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable Appian solutions.
  • Recommend optimal approaches for workflow automation and process orchestration.
  • Identify opportunities to improve existing applications through automation and platform capabilities.

Integration & Data Management

  • Design and implement integrations with enterprise applications using: 
    • REST APIs
    • Databases (SQL Server, Maria DB)
  • Develop and optimize complex queries and data models.
  • Ensure secure and reliable data exchange across systems.

Agile Delivery

  • Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Provide effort estimation and technical input during release planning.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners and Business Analysts to clarify requirements.
  • Support CI/CD and DevOps practices for Appian deployments.

Quality & Governance

  • Ensure applications meet performance, scalability, and security requirements.
  • Support unit testing, integration testing, and production validation activities.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application defects and production issues.
  • Maintain technical documentation and design artifacts.

Production Support

  • Analyze and resolve incidents and service requests.
  • Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) activities.
  • Monitor application health and proactively address operational risks.
  • Support release deployments and post-production validation. 

Mentorship

  • Guide and mentor junior developers
  • Share Appian best practices and development standards across the team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
  • 6 to 8 years of software development experience.

Talents Needed for Success:

  • 4+ years of hands-on Appian development experience.
  • Strong understanding of BPM concepts and workflow automation.
  • Experience developing applications on Appian 22.x, 23.x, or later versions.
  • Strong experience with:
    • SAIL
    • Process Modeling
    • Record Types
    • Expression Rules
    • Integration Objects
    • Data Management
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Strong SQL and database development skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Appian Certified Senior Developer (Preferred)
  • Appian Certified Lead Developer (Good to Have)
  • Experience in financial services, banking, capital markets, or regulated industries.
  • Experience with on-prem/ cloud deployments and Appian Administration.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD tools and automated deployment pipelines.
