Dow’s St. Charles is looking for the next Senior Analytical Specialist to support site laboratory/ies and businesses in Hahnville, LA!
About you and this role - What you will do in this role
The analytical specialist works across site laboratories, or business(es) to identify and implement improvements in laboratory operations and technology. The role is responsible for delivering technical solutions, method development and validation, and lead improvements to lab productivity, technology, and quality management system. The position will focus on our ethoxylated Park plant production laboratory at our St. Charles Site in Hahnville, LA. The plant produces regulated API (Active Pharmaceutical) products, and the role requires expanded conceptual and practical understanding of quality requirements to lead improvements in a highly regulated laboratory operation.
Responsibilities - Duties, projects, tasks, and activities you would be responsible for in this role
- Provides analytical technology and process chemistry expertise to resolve process, product, and analytical problems.
- At a functional level, provides the analytical technical link from the Analytical Technology Center to manufacturing and Quality Control Labs. Within a business, provides analytical expertise and testing coordination in support of Business R&D, TS&D, Quality, and other business initiatives.
- Screens service requests for value and alignment with goals. Consults, as needed, with Subject Matter Experts to develop Response Plans and technical solutions for complex analytical requests.
- Performs complex analyses and interprets and reports analytical data.
- Provides expertise for high level troubleshooting and repair of analytical instrumentation. Trains others on analytical systems and technology.
- Monitors and improves analytical system performance and capability. Develops, validates, implements, and supports effectiveness of routine analytical methods.
- Keeps current with emerging analytical technologies and their potential for application. Evaluates new analytical technologies and methodologies to improve analytical performance and reliability.
- Improves and leverages analytical operating discipline. Promotes use of the Analytical Work Process and participates in lab improvement initiatives to meet site and business needs.
- Leads/facilitates analytical optimization efforts, including defining and implementing Most Effective Technology (MET) and best practices within area of scope.
- Partner with other functional and business stakeholders to develop multi-generational analytical plans and technology roadmaps within the scope of the position. Provide input on analytical equipment capital plans at the functional or business level.
Qualifications - Required education, experience and abilities that are needed for this role (must haves)
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering or a science related discipline OR relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E6 ranking OR Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class ranking.
- 3 or more years laboratory or manufacturing experience.
- A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Preferred Skills - An expanded list of qualifications that are "nice to have", but not essential
- Experience in a regulated laboratory operation (ISO, cGMP, API).
