Description:

This position will be primarily remote with rare occasional travel to MercyOne locations within Iowa and western Illinois.

The Senior Analyst, Quality and Safety serves the MercyOne region under the direction of the Regional Quality Analyst Supervisor. The individual in this position performs a wide array of analyses for clinical quality and safety needs for performance improvement across the region. The individual serves as a contact point for corporate and external agencies seeking statistical quality and safety data. Serves in improving operations and making sound decision through the collection, analysis and reporting of date and other key information for the functional areas of quality, safety, accreditation/regulatory, risk management, and customer experience. Serves in analyzing clinical data and creating usable reports that may include business objects, IHA Dimensions, TH/MercyOne data, dashboards, research data, reports, and tableau utilization. Assists collaboratively in redesign efforts within the areas of responsibility to increase efficiency and effectiveness.

Responsible for the data capture, analysis, and reporting of data information to assist the Trinity Health and MercyOne leadership teams achieve operational efficiency and high data integrity. Responsible for auditing department information, producing reports, and suggesting improvements to processes. Provides knowledge and expertise in the program, services, and applications.

The senior analyst reports directly to the regional quality analyst supervisor.

  • Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the MercyOne (Trinity Health) Mission, Vision, Core Values, Actions and Promise in behaviors, practices, and decisions.

  • Performs targeted, efficient, and effective work with high engagement and collaboration.

  • Assists in maintaining informational databases in areas of responsibility.

  • Participates and lead activities in data collection, analysis, and reporting in the functional areas of quality, safety, accreditation/regulatory, risk management and customer experience in collaboration with the regional directors.

  • Integrates data from disparate sources and evaluate and preprocess raw information.

  • Identifies and investigates discrepancies, patterns, trends, and other pertinent information with communication to functional areas leadership.

  • Improve systems by studying current practices and design modifications.

  • Interprets, evaluates, and organizes necessary data that is incorporated into strategic decision making.

  • Assists in supportive efforts of the regional quality analytics team in analyzing quality, safety, accreditation/regulatory, risk management and customer experience reports by accessing the databases of MercyOne, Trinity Health, regulatory/accrediting bodies, federal/state, contracted agencies, and vendors affiliated with the region.

  • Assists in the development and maintenance of a secure shared-site database for responsible functional areas.

  • Researches, collects, and analyzes information. Identifies opportunities, develops solutions, and leads through resolution. Collaborates on performance improvement activities as indicated by outcomes in program efficiency and patient experience. Responsible for distribution of analytical reports.

  • Utilizes multiple system applications to perform analysis, create reports and develop educational materials. Incorporates basic knowledge of TH policies, practices, and processes to ensure quality, confidentiality, and safety are prioritized.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of departmental processes and procedures and ability to readily acquire new knowledge.

  • Research and compiles information to support ad-hoc operational projects and initiatives.

  • Synthesizes, analyzes data, and provides detailed summaries including graphical data presentations illustrating trends and recommending practical options or solutions while considering the impact on business strategy and supporting leadership decision making.

  • Leverages program and operational data and measurements to define and demonstrate progress, return on investment (ROI), and impact.

  • Performs other duties consistent with the purpose of the job as directed.

General Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, Business, Information Technology, or related field.

  • Three (3) to five (5) years of industry/private industry experience in data analytics, project management, and/or business intelligence.

  • Demonstrated expertise in the use of performance improvement methodology/tools.

  • Must be able to use computers for documentation and other relevant activities.

  • Demonstrates specific knowledge related to software programs such as event reporting systems, government reporting systems, and other appropriate software programs. Experience with computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), HealthStream, Intranet, and use of reporting tools. Desired experience with PowerChart/EPIC, Oracle Health, Meditech, or similar tool.

Skills Required
