Reporting to the Senior Manager, Investment Accounting, the Senior Analyst is responsible for delivering accurate and timely preparation of financial reporting and accounting close processes, and the execution of procedures relevant to investment entities and certain investment business units. The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting skills, preferably with private investments and other financial instruments, an interest in finance systems and internal controls over financial reporting. In this role you will contribute expertise, a desire to build a team community and an eagerness to be a part of a collaborative cross-functional investment finance team.
You will be responsible to:
- Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, variance analyses, investment roll forwards, and supporting workpapers, performing reasonableness and completeness reviews.
- Prepare and review financial statements and schedules, note disclosures, tax filings, audit support and other external reporting deliverables.
- Research and draft accounting considerations and position papers for investment entity activities.
- Manage general ledgers for legal entity reporting and consolidated ledgers for OMERS financial records.
- Identify opportunities and leverage technology and automation tools to improve close efficiency, workpaper design, disclosure support, data quality, and process consistency while ensuring appropriate internal control.
- Compile financial information for sustainability, compliance, debt, and tax-related reporting.
- Review and process invoices; manage bank account balances and reconciliations.
- Develop foundational knowledge of OMERS’ investment accounting processes, systems, investment entity activities, and technical accounting requirements.
- Build strong relationships with Finance peers, including Tax, Legal, Corporate Finance, Valuations, Asset Management, and Investment Operations as well as internal and external audit.
- Seek feedback, incorporate review comments, and take ownership of assigned deliverables while contributing to a collaborative team culture.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Professional Qualifications: 3-5+ years of relevant experience, including accounting, audit or investment accounting. A CPA professional or recently passed the CFE.
- Accounting Experience: Good understanding of IFRS, experience with S4600 pension accounting, consolidated reporting, multiple currencies, or complex organization structures, is an asset.
- Execution & Documentation Quality: Strong attention to detail, organization, reliability, and follow-through on assigned work. Pride in accurate, auditable and review-ready deliverables. Eagerness to identify and implement new processes for operational efficiency and consistency.
- Tools & Data Comfort: Proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Office, with comfort working with data, documentation, reconciliations, and approved digital tools. Exposure to Efront, Power BI, Power Query, Alteryx, automation, or other investment systems is an asset.
- Communication & Collaboration: Professional written and verbal communication skills, and ability to interpret and summarize accounting, reconciliation and disclosure issues logically.
- Learning Mindset & Team Contribution: Intellectual curiosity, eagerness to learn, openness to feedback, and the ability to work constructively within a team and perform effectively in periodic, higher-pressure situations.

The expected salary range for this position is $86,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year.
